Last year I went on a 7new TL spree with Amex right in the middle and never heard a peep. six months later I picked up two revolvers. It seems to me that you are hoping for the worst when it's not necessary. Each time yor CR's are pulled onEX, Amex does a sp - they already know about your inq's and when the new TLs hit- they'll sp you again.
Use the card as intended and stop trying to bring attention to yourself. That's my .02.
They do that for every one even after 6 months? I recently checked my EX report and didn't notice any Amex SP's when I apped for my cards this week besides for the Amex Everyday card. Last one they had a SP on my account was around March when i apped for a Citi card
SP's are often delayed and drop off not like HP's. Chase and Amex are known for doing SP's and how long you have had your card may factor but in general they do this automatically.
Yes, it's a charge card. I have no idea what my hard limit is. I didn't have the guts to put more than $1500 in the check spending tool. If it was a revolver, problem solved, because they might hit me on my 61day CLI request.

As you sure that wouldn't help? If I get FRd after the second app, they should have known that my current income "decreased". Ah wait a minute, then we'd be talking about 2013 numbers, and you're right, that still wouldn't help. I'd probably have to tell them the whole sordid story about why my 1040 doesn't match up and try to supply supporting documents. Best case they slap a low hard limit on my account. Worst case, I'm in big trouble plus lose my account.
*sigh* Ok I will lie low.
You know? I agree with everyone else. The figure you provided was correct at the time in that it was your last return. Your income has decreased this year? Bummer, but it does not necessarily mean you'll stop paying your bills. Amex has loyal customers--for them the real question is where you are going to be in the next ten years. Relax and pay on time, keep util under control, and you'll be fine!!
This thread is much more serious than I expected after reading the original post...
I thought lenders do all that before when they're in the consdering stage?
OP you are worried WAY to much for a charge card... Amex can put a hard limit on it if they have any issues... even if you dropped down to an income of $12k that they verified (IF THEY FR'd you) they would still probably leave the card open and just impose hard limit.
and then I don't understand not having the guts to put in a big amount on the check spend when you are trying to figure out how to FR yourself!!!
1a the check spend doesn't cause and fr
2a if you check spend and are approved for $5k or something and your looking to use it for $1k at most a month then you really probably won't see an FR
all roads in this lead to who cares, use the card to death and just go about your business.
+1 Stop worrying and just use your cards responsibly.
Also, I recall a recent post, regarding FR where AMEX case manager was requiring the 2013 tax return. I believe the poster was overseas, and their 11/12 returns weren't going to work, so poster was looking for advice. Not sure what the rest of the circumstances around this specific case but this plan might backfire in more ways than one!

just use your card as intended... as for the 3 x CLI I did try this last year with 5 new accounts out of total of 7 accounts (added 80K before 3 x CLI) and Amex still approved...that was a surprise to me..no FR or anything

I remember a post similar to that, the one I'm thinking of... the guy was overseas and his issue was that his tax preparer never properly submitted his return. He subsequently re filed it but it was going to take the IRS too long to process it and by that time the FR deadline would be past. That situation I can completely understand because the return was in fact late. Maybe we're not talking about the same one. I think I've read 200+ old Amex stories here just in the past week alone. I have been at least trying to do my homework.
It would REALLY tick me off if some credit card company required me to file my return _before_ the _law_ requires it. Who do they think they are? If the IRS says I have to file by October 15th, then that's when I'm going to file. I do this every year. If Amex starts making up tax deadlines that don't exist I'm going to close the account just on principle. That's way out of line. What's next, Amex requires cardholders to get their taxes done by Feb?
