What do I have to do to get to 5000cl???
I have only 3yrs credit card history but my oldest auto loan is over 9years ago reported. Salary is 48000.
You guys and gals of course have gotten me this far so any info will help and thank you to all the contributors. It's been a great and aggrevating ride so far. Didn't know credit could be so stressful.

NFCU could be a dear friend to an individual such as yourself. Do you qualify?

USAA was my first $5K card.  Are you eligible?  How about BBVA NBA Amex?

Definitely app for Amex Blue preferred. As stated by another member. Even if the limit starts below 5k. You can try the 3x increase luv button. With your scores it shouldn't be a problem. Congrats on your success!

Cap1 is probably the easiest.  But your scores are probably good enough for American Express.   Amex also has a pre-qual site.  With the 3x CLI's you can grow Amex cards fairly quickly.   I think it really is about what cards will be most useful for you.  Don't just app for a card because you think it will give you a good limit.  You are ready to start thinking about long term rewards, too.

I can definitely vouch for Amex. Got my BCP in October at $4100, got 2nd CLI to 25k today. And your scores are better than mine. I think you're a shoo in.

My path to higher limits was AMEX first for 3X to 6k and then Lowes helped me break the 10k barrier.

Check Cap One's pre qual link. If the Venture card pops up, odds are excellent that you can get your first $5K card.

Agreed, Venture would be the best bet

Venture will give you a minimum of 5k starting limit. Venture one is around 3500 if you want the no annual fee and don't think you'll utilize the 2x rewards. Select travel as your desired reward on the prequal site. If venture comes up your pretty golden for an actual approval as their prequal site is very accurate.

I have only been building for 9 months, had no credit cards prior to that ever. I applied for the PenFed Platinum Rewards card a couple weeks ago and was approved for the minimum starting line of 5k. It was my first 5k limit and it's a visa signature(first one of those for me too), so I was pretty excited. Good luck getting your 5k+ card!!
