Re: How to keep multiple cards open?

I put 90% of my charges on my American Express and Citi cards, although I have some monthly bills going to my Freedom such as my Pandora and Spotify subscriptions, as well as my FedEx account bills to it automatically. Also, I occasionally use my Discover card. I put anything on my Ring that I need a little bit of extra time to pay off, the rest get PIF every month. I'll also use Freedom and Discover if there is a useful 5% cash back category.

Re: How to keep multiple cards open?

Well with my 4 cards, this is what I was thinking I could do

Chase - Everyday

BoA - NEED SUGGESTIONS

Discover - Gym Membership

Sallie Mae - Gas

I dont know what I should do with my BoA lol

Re: How to keep multiple cards open?

It was a card that was on my list that I really wanted..Now that I look at it, it was kind of a waste cause it seems like the Freedom and BoA are pretty close with everything

Re: How to keep multiple cards open?

Put another reoccurring charge on it until something clicks.

I must say, apping without having a purpose is not wise. Hopefully you will find a usefulness for the card.

Re: How to keep multiple cards open?

What happened for me with Discover which has gone downhill the last few years is that a welcome balance transfer clicked.

I strongly agree, but what % of stuff posted here falls into that "without having a purpose" category?   Unless, for example, "it's metal" counts as a purpose!

+3.

@longtime, I suppose it depends on the individual.

Not everyone is a high achiever. Some are content with just a metal card. As long as their finances are in control, and they're not going out of their means to get a metal card, good for them, I suppose.
