How to maximize US Bank CLI?

My USBAR will be 6 months old earlier next months, and it just happens that I will be making some big purchases around the same time next months. Since I got a embarassingly low SL, I want to make sure I get as much of an increase as possible. Does it make any differences for USBank to apply for a SLI by calling a rep, apply through website, apply through mobile app? And althought it might be too late, does USBank like to see a lot of big purchases each months or as few purchases as possible?

I would just use the website, their inquiries are soft not hard for such requests. They do like use, the amount doesnt seem to matter I only used mine for a few hundred a month and got a 5k raise to 15k when I asked. Also you can raise your own limit by pushing money to your card from bank account, they increase available credit by the overpaid amount. That can be your backup plan should a cli request be denied.

wow, that's some news I can use!  I wish I'd know that a week ago. I just cashed the sub from my connect card. I deposited it in my us checking, but I could have taken it as an account credit. You think if I had credited my zero balance account with $500, they would have raised my cl $500?

it would not be permanent but by all we know it would allow a charge of 1k if you have a 0 balance.

I suppose I'll wait for 6 months and apply for cli. I think they're a little flakey. They approved a connect card for $2000, then 2 months later a shoppers for $7000. My scores did rise some.

After 6 full months (don't count the month in which card was open), lock your CRAs (all three, they will sometimes bounce to alternate CRA if their preferred for your location is locked) and ask for CLI via app or web. If you are eligible, you will receive it.

Then, if whatever you receive is not enough, thaw CRA, call and tell them you need a higher limit - they will do HP and they may or may not increase your limit.

When I took HPs on AR, they increased it by $10,000 both times and that's after $4000.00 SP CLI.

Wow this is good to know. But I'm wondering isn't this basically 2 consecutive CLIs. I thought most banks only allow 1 CLI per 6 months. Is this an USBank thing or no? And do I have to do the second CLI request right after the first one?

Oh and another question. You said don't count the month in which card was open. So even if I opened the card like super early in the month, something like Jan 6th IIRC, I still have to wait till end of July or early August to request the CLI?

Re: How to maximize US Bank CLI?

It is every six months for SP but you are free to ask for HP at any time.

You can ask in July, just lock/freeze your reports first to avoid surprises.

Re: How to maximize US Bank CLI?

Thanks to this article mentioning that US Bank CLI requests are not a HP, I went online for the Altitude Go card, requested a CLI and found my CL was instantly raised from $9k to $14k.  I basically use the card for the 4 percent at restaurants.  I have had the card for about ten years and never received an auto CLI.
