They do like use, the amount doesnt seem to matter I only used mine for a few hundred a month and got a 5k raise to 15k when I asked. Also you can raise your own limit by pushing money to your card from bank account, they increase available credit by the overpaid amount. That can be your backup plan should a cli request be denied.
I was going try this today since my available credit is getting real low. But it doesn't let me make payment higher than the current balance, and I still have a pending $2k purchase. Does pushing money to the card from bank account mean a different method?
I have never heard of this pushing money to the card method. IMHO based on over a decade with USB, it's time, lost of cash, lots of spend to get them to increase, even then they are reluctant.
Bottom line: Take the HP and call in and ask for a CLI, don't like the result? Call back and ask for the decision to be reviewed. Be nice, and cross your fingers.
Update: I needed to make some big purchase last week and couldn't wait until the 6 months mark for just a possibility of SP CLI. So I called in last Tuesday and asked for a HP CLI. The guy on the other end confirmed that it's not necessary to hit the 6 months mark in order to have the HP CLI to go through and asked me how much of a new limit I want. I asked for $15,000, which is 3x my current limit. He said it usually takes about 3 days to hear back. I did not get any emails or see any changes in the app for a week and thought the request is probably denied. Then today I logged in the app, and boom my total limit is now $15,000.
Congratulations!
