How to remove AU accounts that are no longer needed.

Hi all,

I have been rebuilding for a while now and finally have gotten to the point where my scores and profile can stand on its own.

When I started rebuilding the DW added me to several cards to show good payment history but I would like to remove myself from these now because a lot of them are fairly new accounts and she has a habit of keeping balances and I have been trying to keep score up as high as possible to by a truck sometime this spring or summer.

So my question is how do I get the accounts completly off my credit report.  I have already had myself removed as an AU on a couple and the accounts show closed on my end but still show as a new account so it keeps my AAOA down and also puts me over 5/24 if I should ever want to try a shot at Chase sometime this year.  Ready to get back with the big boys at some point in the near future, too ( Amex, Chase, etc.)

Do I have to dispute the accounts with the Credit Bureaus after I remove myself as an AU,  If so, how do I dispute them.

Thanks in advance for any suggestions.

Dispute them as 'belongs to account holder' or 'not liable for account'. The third bureau might have a different but similar option.

There's no need to dispute them. You can simply call up the lender and ask them to remove you as an AU.

I'm not sure it's quite that simple. "Authorized User: Calling the credit card provider can be an uphill battle because they only want to talk to the account holder. The card issuer, however, cannot force you to be an authorized user. The simplest way to eliminate an account is to ask the primary account holder to call and cancel the card."

Kind of odd given that "Account Holder: Permission does not need to be granted by the authorized user to add them to the account."

Getting myself removed as an AU is not a problem.   Getting the accounts removed from my CRA's is a little tougher.  I think I will just dispute tyem as "not mine" and see what happens.

But how would you be easily identified?

I have the same problem.

I'm no longer AU.

Just got my TU report and it say Responsibility: Relationship Terminated (09/22/2016)

Last update 09/2016

I guess the only way to remove this account from TU report is to dispute it.

In my case, since I am AU under DW I can just log in under her online account or have her call to cancel my AU status.  For others it may not be tyat easy.
