How uninformed are comenity reps?

So, after finding out that comenity had reported one of my cards on my wife's report (I added her as a cardholder, but never entered social or anything but name) I got on the phone with all 3 of my comenity cards today to verfy a few things.

One of my cards received a CLI of over 3x it's original limit, so I figured I'd call into the other one and ask if they could do the same (they were opened on the same day, the usage has been nearly identical.)  However, one of the cards has the CLI button that works and the other has the CLI button but it doesn't work.  When I get to the screen to enter my income, it just stays there, doesn't ever process.  I've tried it from a computer, tablet, phone etc. and it's the identical response of nothing.  So I called to say "hey, can you match my limit on my other card?"  I was told they'd have to do a hard pull, I said

"No, I don't want a hard pull for a comenity card, no offense, but no thanks.  Why doesn't my button work?"

Sir, it's a hard pull every time you hit that button too. .....

"Um...no ma'am, it isn't.  I hit it once a week on my other cards and there is never a hard pull"

That may be what you think, but I guarantee you it's a hard pull. There is no such thing as a "soft pull" ever.

*click.*

So I figured I'd call back and see if someone else had ever heard of a soft pull.  Nope was basically told the exact same thing.  Meanwhile, I just got a CLI with a soft pull, I received these cards with a soft pull......but apparently it doesn't exist.

Why is it so tough these days???  If I'm unsure of something I will tell someone "you know, I'm not 100% sure, let me find out."  But I would never just flat out make up lies and spread untruths......kinda ridiculous if you ask me...

Why wouldn't it report on her credit report?  Most banks besides Amex don't require social security numbers to be added as an authorized user.  If you added her as an account holder you were giving them authorization to report it to her credit report..

A lot of front line CSRs aren't particularly helpful or knowledgable so it's not just limited to Comenity.

Bc nothing of the sort was EVER said.  it just said adding a buyer to get a card. I'd figure if you were going to add it to someone's report, somewhere it would say that.  BOA required her social and said it would be reporting.  Cap One said it would be reporting.  Just kinda figured it would be the thing to do, you know, informing someone of that.

Not every card is going to tell you that.  I guess that they assume you would know that when you add someone as an authorized user that it's going to report on their credit report.

Well, that's an awfully big assumption to make.  I'd make that assumption if they asked for a social, but when they refer to it as "adding a buyer" and don't ask for a social, I don't see any reason to assume that.

I don't want to go back and forth too much on this but as I said very few creditors ask for SSNs and by your own admission 3 other creditors had already told you that it would report so....   And as long as you use the card responsibly it's not going to hurt her credit report and may very well help  it so I wouldn't get too upset over it.

Re: How uninformed are comenity reps?

Why would you not think it would be added to her credit report? Thats the part im not really getting. If you're adding her as a user, its going on her credit. Thats a large part of the point of adding AUs after all.

As far as the reps and HP vs SP, well, you know its a SP so no need to argue with them. Many reps not just comenity have no clue there is any difference between SP and HP.

Nope, I just wanted her to have a card so she could use it.

Correct, they TOLD me.

And yes, it did hurt her credit.  That's the issue.  It was a toy limit card with about 75% usage (when they reported it mid cycle) that caused a 24 point drop (and before anyone starts, yes that was the only change to her report, there was no other change.)  that's the issue.

I'm sorry but you should have known that it would report.  This issue is on you not Comenity.
