Looks like at least one cardholder will be sitting on his lone CSP for quite awhile.
Rules always change and maybe on some new quarter review months down the line they'll pull back from this. Who knows.
It made me go for the Chase Ink Plus (which I needed anyway for a new business) then pulled the trigger on the Hyatt which I otherwise would have taken a bit more time about, and now I've just apped for the Ink Cash so that I've got the business cards I need ahead of any potential extension of the new policy to their business products.
While only speculation, during my last 2 cobranded Apps, the wait during my recon call was longer than normal. On each App, I sensed the Analyst knew I was app'ing to make it before the rumored April deadline. Both were extremely helpful and made an effort to push through and approve the Apps immediately.
If it weren't the anticipated April 5/24 implementation on all Chase cards, I'd likely would have held off until after the Summer. What I've learned in the CC rewards game (and Financial opportunities, in general) hesitation and indecision is never rewarded, unlike, say in a game of Chess.

Spot-on analogy. And i play chess a lot! Love the game.
True enough that. Can't count the times found myself in that very position (BMO Diner's Club) for one example, pressed on ahead, and as a result came away with a pair of $20K lines and then later on read pages of post where peeps who hesitated wished now that they didn't pull back then.

And there are also plenty of stories of people who plowed on ahead and shot themself in the foot with their credit. You don't need to be completely conservative with apps, but you also can't be reckless. One of the reasons to stay in the garden is so that when certain limited time offers pop you are in a position to make a move and take advantage. Basically quietly stalk the offers you want and then pounce as soon as the opportunity presents itself with your best chance.

I would have to agree. The reality of all of this is that you are going to miss out on some offers, either because you "waited too long" or because it's just not a good time to apply. I think it's overly optimistic to say "don't ever hesitate! apply!" becaue it's not a good thing to apply for every offer that possibly interests you. Thick file or not, it can only take so much new account beating.
I think it's important to apply for what you really want, after considering it carefully. Does this approach mean occasionally you miss out on something limited time? Sure. But it's not always just about offers. There's an entire credit picture to consider.

Where did this rumor start?
Would of waited on the Marriot card for the summer but the 80k offer with 3k spend and the possible 5/24 possibly coming I had to app. I got the 2 weeks phone message so I hope its a approval.
People have been saying that for awhile .. hope it doesnt come true because I want to get another ink plus

We'll know in April. I'll test it out with a Bus Marriott App.
