Huntington Bank Voice card slashed my limit? **bleep**

Have a Huntington Voice with 11,700 limit. When I opened card I used balance transfer offer of 4200. I have paid for the last  three months on time never late and more that minimum and today I log in and slashed my limit to 3900 and my balance is 3800. I don't know whats going on. I had a hit in one of my credit monitoring services for Equifax that a new account showed up and stating there is 30 day latest which tanked my score 80 points, however I found out it belongs to my son, who is JR and I have disputed but that's a 30 day deal. Any advice on what to do about this card? My scores will really tank now that my utilization is almost 100% on this card.

Ideally, you'd get that balance paid off (or way down). Or a balance transfer to a different card with a higher limit?  I'd be concerned about the domino AA possibility of your other lenders.

As for the Huntington card, not much you can do now. Let the dispute process run its course and then double back. You could then call them for a recon on your limit, but I'd temper your expectations at the moment.

I have two other cards I could BT to that have 0% for 12 months. I called and they said I would be receiving something in the mail from them. I asked how to get my CL back and she said get cleared the item that caused your decrease and I could reapply for increase in 6 months. WTH?

Huntington, a joke of a bank, I did a CLD early last year of my own volition, at the time they said to restore the limit you are reducing from just give us a call, I did that 2 weeks ago and the response was sorry you are at the max for your profile. I am using it to make a substantial auto repair purchase later this month then I will be terminiating the card after i pay that off and have collected the rewards. The categories are not that great anyway....

I feel the same way.  My old bank was taken over by Huntington.  I don't feel they do a good job of marketing their products.  Other than free checking, I never saw any real reason why I would choose them over any other bank.  They have a ton of locations where I live so if I needed to go into a branch then it wouldn't be a very far drive.

At least historically Huntington Voice was to cover more obscure spending categories that you couldn't get elsewhere.

Admittedly with AOD 3% to all... well, another also-ran while that lasts.

Re: Huntington Bank Voice card slashed my limit? **bleep**

I have two Huntington Bank jokes to share. Neither involves Voice but definitely jokes.

I've been foul hooked by Huntington three times over the years. I left the first two. The last time I stayed with a checking account only. I gave up running from them.

Shortly after being acquired the third time I visited a branch for a transaction. Still had other accounts there. The teller asked about the co-owner. There was no co-owner. I went to talk to the manager. Seems in the bank merger Huntington changed my account with POD to a joint account. The manager was testy about it. Dumb luck it was an or account as opposed to an and account. I asked for a balance to close. Manager was not so friendly then but cut the check and I left.  A few months later the beneficiary converted to co-owner on the account died. That would have been big fun in probate. Dodged a bullet there.

A few years later I visited another Hutington branch to redeem EE savings bonds. I was POD on the bonds. I had a photo ID (DL) and death certificate. Manager of that branch refused to redeem bonds without a marriage certificate. The bonds were payable on death not marriage. He wouldn't budge. The wedding was in a different state that accepted applictions for certified copies of certificates via I'net only. Site was down for two months.

I finally had the document the manager required to redeem EE bonds with a POD and returned. He had  a teller do the transaction. I got a check for my IRA too and left.

There is still a low balance free checking there but nothing else.

Yeah they aren't great. I had a Voice card opened with them that wasn't used with a hefty line. Every time I tried to use the card I'd have issues with it getting locked and having to call in. Ended up closing it.

Thanks fir all the replys. I hate Huntington buy unfortunately she is an employee and have to have an account with them to get paid. I just figured I would get card on a whim. $11,700 CL was good for me percentage of opened credit but now the bastards show me at 90% usage with the decrease. Would you all just BT remaining balance to a 0% card and sock drawer it? That's bs that an account that isn't even mine showed up on report then this.
