Husband as AU?

I have been working on my credit for a couple of years. I am in the mid 600 now.  I finally talked my hubby into letting me check his credit scores which we knew were awful.  We were right; TU 496 EQ 511 and EX 537.  I have been reading this forum for a few months now so I know something is going on with AU. Will it help his credit scores to be added as AU on my cards?  Can it hurt my credit?  Do they check the scores of people you put on as AU?  I am going to start posting more questions as I go through his report and find out how to fix it.  This is now going to be my challenge.

Re: Husband as AU?

You can have him put on your cards as an au without an inquiry, but it's only going to help him until Fico 08 kicks in.  Also, make certain these cards have a clean history, otherwise he can inherit that.

Re: Husband as AU?

No, it won't affect your credit.

Just a thought.  If you have a couple of cards with clean history, you may be able to have him added as a JOINT instead of AU.  Sometimes this will happen without an inquiry, sometimes it will.  You'll have to ASK before you do it.
