Orchard Bank - Denied Graduation

I have had orchard bank since May of '07. I applied for a graduation as I have 3 major bank cards and 2 major store cards with steady payment history and no baddies. I figured I would be a perfect candidate for graduation and would be doing the company a favor by requesting the graduation. The first person I spoke with gave me a speech how building credit takes years and is a long process, which is true, but if he would have looked at my report he would see there is no needed fix. I was told that I would have to wait more time then ask, I called back a couple of days later and went with the graduation by telling the csr what happened previously. She said she would put in a 'manual review' and I would hear in 10 some days.

The time went by and I never received anything back in the mail, so I sent messages online and received the we are processing your request and you are a valued customer. Well, low and behold I received a message in my email saying my account is not eligible at this time. I was so disappointed and feel orchard is not truly valuing me as a customer and once now I will keep a 0 balance on the account as they are not worthy of any trans. fees or use. Orchard bank has failed in the sense of customer satisfaction and could care less, because they know it is a 'rebuilder' card and are not willing to serve those who have improved or gained credit worthiness. There loss not mine, it is just a shame some companies only pray on the less fortunate and are conceited in policy.

Re: Orchard Bank - Denied Graduation

I have an Orchard Bank card and have called several times to lower the interest rate.  On my call last week, I asked for an account manager.  I was told that my card is a reestablish your credit card and the interest rate is at the lowest it can go 22.15%.  So while they have give me multiple CLIs from $300 to $1500 the interest rate will always suck.  I'll be paying this card off and throwing the card in the sock draw until it reports a $0 balance.  I have an HSBC card I was approved for last Spring with an $1100 CL and a lower interest rate.  I hate to close Orchad Bank since it is my oldest CC but eventually that's the plan.  It's probably best to move on.

Re: Orchard Bank - Denied Graduation

call them back tell them you want to cancel the card.!

they will ask, why?  i told them that my Cl of $300, was the lowest and the card is useless...they will respond with an offer, or connect you with a "card specialist" who will try to talk you out of cancelleing the card....and give you a CLI..

they usually only give you an increase of $100-200, but call back every 6-8 weeks and ask... my $300 card is now $900..i have had the card for bout 11 months.  but started asking for CLI for about 6 months ago......

Re: Orchard Bank - Denied Graduation

mymy, I did exactly as you did. Applied...approved for $300 cl....called them told them to close the card, said what do we have to do to keep you a customer. Gave me $150cl....6 months later gave me another $300 cl. The cl on the HSBC card stands now at $750. IMO HSBC is one of the few ccc's that will give you a cli when you threaten to close it.

Re: Orchard Bank - Denied Graduation

Wellllll on the one hand they kept me as a customer. Smiley Happy

On the other hand, I'd sure like to get a LOT more luv from them. But not sure if that's the right ccc to do it with. I've said half a dozen times, I'm going to close it, but as soon as it get ready to they go do something like a cli. LOL. There ARE now other cc's I'd like to close before them.

Re: Orchard Bank - Denied Graduation

I am in the same boat as you Steven I have a card with Orchard for the last 3 years with no late payments and went over the limit by $30 once and I have 2k with them currently a 0 balance. I spoke to them recently to unsecure my card and they gave me the usual crap we are still reviewing your account and blah blah blah.

So I have put Orchard in the sock drawer and use my Amex Blue for everything. Will cancel my orchard next year once I have a year history with Amex.
