As 2016 is halfway gone, I've been noticing I'm more inclined to use my Hyatt card for a majority of my everyday purchases. I've had a few stays so far this year and redeeming points has been effortless and the HGP line are always more than helpful. I've even taken spend away from Discover this quarter!
Interested to see if anyone else is using a card they didn't forsee using as much as they are currently?
I've not really heard/seen much about this card.. can you explain a little more?
The card is issued by Chase and has one of the most lucrative sign up bonuses around. Two free nights at ANY hyatt in the world. Free night every year you keep the card up to a category 4 hotel, which can be quite a steal. Automatic Platinum status as long as you have the card, stay and night credits if you spend above certain thresholds.
It also earns 3x pts on hyatt stays (including restaurants connected to the hotel)
2x pts on restaurants, airfare, car rentals
1x pt everywhere else
I can definitely see your point. I like to build up points for future trips but to each their own. I know I didn't see myself using the card as much as I am now. Maybe others are using cards more than they thought too.
I've been using my AMEX Hilton heavily since I was approved for it back in March 2016. I was just approved for the Hilton Surpass so I'm going to start using this instead since this earns more points. My AMEX Hilton will be SD but before I do that I will transfer the majority of my CL to the Hilton Surpass.
My Discover will SD next quarter since I don't plan to spend much on Amazon or on home improvements.
I'm also using my BoA cash rewards card more than I expected to. I primarily use it to purchase fuel since the cash back is 3%. I've also been using it for groceries occasionally since I earn 2% cash back. My original plan was to only have my Netflix subscription be charged on this card so they won't close my account for inactivity.
I agree. I had originally anticipated applying for the CSP in the future but may evaluate when that time comes, since I realized I would constantly lean towards Hyatt transfers
