I LUV BOA...

So I got the secured BoA card about 3 mo's ago...Two days ago I conjured up the Online BoA chat fairy...nice gal...I said I wanted to convert the Secured card to a real card...she shot me down real quick, said to come back in about 6 months Smiley Mad I said ok, but I would really like a Airline Miles card...so the Chat Fairy says no problem, she would hook me up, I chose the MilesEdge card since it was compatiable with Continental...she gave me a link for a quick app and I gave it a shot

This morning I go into my BoA accounts and lo and behold there is the MilesEdge BoA card listed as MINE,  with a $2K limit!!Smiley Very Happy  TWO DAYS after applying....

Now here's the kicker....I really want a CLI now, so at lunch time today I do the Online CLI request, I just pick a number.... $5000..yeah, that sounds like a nice respectable number for a nice respectable guy like me Smiley Wink

And guess what?  Thats right, I went into my BoA accounts a few minutes ago and it's now a $5000 credit line!!

I love BoA...but I truly love myFico.com, because this forum was a big help in getting me to this point.  I had done a house refi last December with my scores about 580.....and realized I was being a dope and losing big money for not dealing with my credit reports, started working on them in March, then a short time later came across this board.  And that's when things really started falling into place.  The advice and expertise on this board is invaluable.  Earlier this month I was 624, 620 & 649...

I'll be checking my scores again after the first of the month, untill then....THANKS myFICO

Live Long & Prosper,
ctRob

Re: I LUV BOA...

Hi,

Congratulations on the credit card and increase in credit lines...I have an off the subject question. I'm in the middle of a refi on a piece of property. When you did your refi did it raise your credit scores? If so, did they go down first and then come back up?

I'm trying to figure out exactly what this refi is going to do to my scores, if anything.

Thanks so much and again, congratulations.

Re: I LUV BOA...

Was the link she gave you you for the miles card the same credit app for the one on their site? Andwhy do you think they approved you for a new/different card anddidn't/couldn't unsecure your secured card?

At the refi the mortgage guy told me my middle Fico score was about 584, then told me that it dropped to about 580 during the process, could have been the inquiries for the mortgage...

At the time I wasn't working on my credit reports, and didn't start for a few months.  When I did finally pull my fakos, they were:
FAkos - Feb 07 TU 571, EX 590 & EQ 579
Fakos - May 07 TU 585, EX 589 & EQ 595

Now my Ficos, after a little work:
TU 649, EX 620 & EQ 624

Dont know if that helps, like I said, at the time I wasn't really working on them and when I did start I didn't know the diff between Fakos & Fico.

I think the approval for the MilesEdge card was probably just based on my current scores and reports.  With a secured card they want about 9 months of history on their secured cards before they can convert to unsecured.  She probably couldn't over-ride that rule.

The MilesEdge link she gave me was inside one of her messages, I couldn't tell you if it was the same as the one online.  My guess is that the link she gave me was tagged somehow so she (the online chat fairy) gets credit for the sale.  But I don't know for sure about that.

I can tell you that the online chat BoA people are very helpful.  And whenever I ask for help I log into my accounts first.  Don't know if that helps or not when asking for stuff.  I have two checking accounts and a savings account with BoA.
Hope that helps...

Sorry, I misread you question the first time - the application she linked me to was very short, I was already logged onto my BoA account so most of my info was already avail to them.  The app I had to fill out online was just Name, income, own or rent a house....that was about it

they already had my SS#, address, etc etc

hope that helps..
