I am very sorry but still have 2 specific questions..

I don't know why my post was locked I still have another important question.. Obviously I am worried and I don't know what to do.  The advice I have gotten still isn't 100% clear.  I have 2 questions.  I have been advised to close the accounts and start over which I will do if it can solve the problem.  However they are my cards as well and still carry a balance which will take some time to pay off so I have the following questions to clarify what I need to do:

- None of the accounts on my hubby's credit report are "his" they are my accounts to which I added him as an authorized user.  This was done so long ago that I do not remember if they asked me for his SSN when I added him or just asked for his name and sent out an additional card.  Does anyone know what the practice is when adding authorized user?  No need to close the cards if his SSN isn't even on the accounts..  when we went to the social security office to ask they noticed a mistake in which they had printed his new ss card with both of his last names while his green card only has 1 last name.  They reissued a new card with the 1 last name and said this could be why we are having credit problems.  So it might not even be the SSN at all and it could be the names.  The 2 banks I have credit cards with are Bank of America and Citibank if that makes a difference.  I don't seem to recall having to tell them his SSN when I added him as a user but I am not sure.  I assume this should be a question that a "credit expert" could answer rather easily.. If not, is there a way to find out without stirring up any suspicions from the bank..?

- By closing the old accounts would we then be completely in the clear with no risk of fraud charges..?  And the problem would be solved and he could easily get a secured credit card..?

Again I am really not trying to stir up trouble.  I have ALOT going on in my life right now and this is causing me GREAT stress.  Any help is listened to and taken seriously and I am just trying to see how best to solve the issue.  If his old number IS linked to my credit cards and closing them WILL solve the issue then I WILL do that.  Thank you..

Re: I am very sorry but still have 2 specific questions..

Ok so it looks like with Citibank I did not provide an SSN for him..  I logged in to my account just now and went to add an authorized user.. it just has a very basic fill in the person's name and check the box and we'll send them a card.   This is good because this is the one I wanted to keep and has a larger balance.  Do you think this one should be OK to keep then..?

Re: I am very sorry but still have 2 specific questions..

Tasksgirl,

This thread (as was the previous one on this topic) is locked to further comments. The fact of the matter is that your dilemma and questions are not those that "credit experts" can (nor should they attempt to) definitively answer for you. Yours are complex legal & immigration issues that you should seek *real* & competent counsel for. Plainly put, this isn't the appropriate forum for the questions that you have with regard to this matter.
