but, according to Merrick Bank.....I'm dead. I called them with a question on my long *unused* card and they transferred me to fraud. Fraud wouldn't speak to me citing I had to send a letter to this address. I did and someone reported me as DECEASED. They never received a death certificate...just someone said I was DEAD.
I am guessing that they possibly called an old phone # to speak to me about my account and someone got tired of it.
LOL. I just thought this was funny and might make you guys laugh as well. WEIRD MERRICK. I've moved onto NFCU and Merrickk can 'you know what'!!!! However, the old account is still available to ck fico scores.
lol Hope you got that sorted out. I'd sure hate if someone would just report me as "dead" and they close my account without actually trying to contact me first.

Too bad that doesn't work with debt collectors. I get calls for (I assume) the person who had my phone number before me, and nothing I tell them will make it stop. A lawyer's office calls on Tuesdays at 9:30am every week, and when I try to tell them anything, the lady just says "Pay your bill!" and hangs up.
How to deal with debt collector is pretty well-discussed. There are ways to deal with them. Google around a bit and you will see. In your case, as it's not your debt, you can probably actually make *them* pay you. Take a look at this :-)

I just read this the other day. My case is nowhere near as serious, but I could probably get a cease and desist order if I wanted to. For now, I just unplug my house phone on Tuesday mornings.
By the way, thank you for showing me that I'm not the only person who reads the Capital Journal!

Ha! This is the second post I've read in the last few months were a myFICO forumite was informed of their demise by a CCC.
Sorry OP!
Keep both your credit and your body in top shape!
