Im in the garden! LOL..seriously, Im 2 weeks in! Thats huge for me! Usually, If I can get thru the first month, I can do 6 months. Goal is a year, and I think its doable this time! ![]()
@Anonymous wrote:I find the BCE card next to useless myself. A 3-2-1 card becomes just a 3% card for that one category when you have a 2% general spend card in your wallet. Then, that 3% category is only yielding you 1% more than the general 2% card gives you. Depending on your spend in that category, it may not even be worth it. With the Amex $25 reward redeem threshold, for me it's kind of a worthless card. It takes me at least 2 months if not 3 to bank enough rewards to redeem. I'd rather just use my DC card where I can pull the rewards monthly, even if it means leaving a few bucks on the table. The only real reason I keep my BCE card at this point is because it's got a $50k limit and aids considerably in aggregate utilization padding.
I keep it for that couple days per month when my BCP statement is cutting and I want no new charges pending after paying it to zero. Also, I have maxed out BCP groceries for the year, so suddenly it becomes one of my go to's.

Ms pizza has always been one to jump the fence to get out of the garden lol
Pizza will stay in the garden for a year when the sun rises in the west and sets in the east.

Yep, I agree. I closed mine about 18 months ago for exactly these reasons. It had a $20,000 credit limit, but I wasn't using it because (a) it took the points two months to post, (b) the minimum redemption was $25, and (c) my grocery store spending is low enough that the difference between using BCE and a 2% card is only $30 a year. Amex tried to make me a retention offer, but I told them not to bother. I don't miss this card at all.

Pizza, you done good!
Communicating with Amex CS is like visiting on the front porch at the mental hospital. My BCE is the most annoying card I have. Downgraded from BCP as I have a person policy against paying for aggravation. My humble advice is not to jump the garden fence for these crazies. Go for a worthwhile card. Your call, of course.
I have no blemishes on my credit, scores north of 800 but Amex makes me nuts just the same. Congrats if you got a cs rep you could understand. The last guy was screaming at me in tongues.![]()
You are my hero!

It’s kind of funny i still have my BCE i haven’t used one bit for the last three years and they haven’t gave that card the axe yet, it may be because i put a lot of spend into my EDP but who knows.
So long as one card is being used, usually all cards are safe from being closed by Amex regardless if they have not seen usage.
