Ok... Little update.
After seeing all those Sallie Mae posts I applied for it.
Sallie Mae MC. Approved with 3.2k
Now that's weird! Barclay wouldn't extend my line... But give me a new CC?!
Anyways I didn't know Barclay was running it. If I knew wouldn't have applied
now you could call barclay and have them move your CL from that card you don't want to use anymore to this new Sallie Mae card and make it an even bigger line!!
wouldn't worry about these few inq's, plus the positive new tradelines and great credit lines will only strengthen your file which will increase your score over the short and long run.

WOW!! Congrats! See now there ya go... I have applied for Sallie no less than 4 times and still do not have the card.
I must admit, I'm a little jelly!

You can do that?! Move CL over?! That's great one less card to carry!!!!
How do you do it?
use the backdoor numbers and call Barclay and that goes directly to underwriting... tell them that they declined to give you CLI on your old card that had terrible terms so you applied and was approved for a sallie mae card and you would like to move the CL from the old card over and close it... maybe they would give you cli while at it

Jelly?
Don't I really don't like CCs...
Them plus a young uneducated version of me = troubles!
I really don't like the whole CC game... Needing to prove yourself with a dumb 3 digit number. Promoting spending without having the money in the bank ARG!
Anyway it if wasn't for things like houses I wouldn't even look at CCs.
Only reasons I am applying for cards is to raise CL and lower % use.
Good luck to u! Don't be jelly CC sucks!
Trouble when young doesn't have to mean trouble today, and I rarely ever spend anything that I don't already have in the bank. I run everything through my cards for the rewards and I pay in full every month. Usually twice per month with the only exceptions being Christmas and vacation where I might carry a balance for a month or 2.
Planning for a future mortgage is good too, but for me it's all about the rewards. That Sallie Mae card will give you 5% cash back. For me not taking advantage of the cash back seems like throwing money away. I can't even remember the last time I used a debit card.
OP, great job on Sallie Mae and AMEX! Yes, some lenders just prefer to work with some people and some don't. Who knows why? Anyway, Discover won't give me a card (probably because they were IIB and I burned them for $13K), but AMEX is more than happy to give me two good CCs (I closed them long before my BK).
