@kjm79 wrote:Well the friendly credit analyst, Ben, informed me that even though the letter said they denied because of the BK, he said that's not why I was denied. lol I was denied for to many inquiries (10 in the past 12 months (5 are auto, scored as 1 but still shows as 5)) and high util (21%). He suggested lowering the util and trying again. I'll wait about 6 months and try again. The phone call wasn't successful but still slightly educational.
I think you'll get it with better util. Mine was 38% in december when they declined, It was 6% when they approved Wednesday.
LS...was that overall util 6%? Do they pull EQ or TU

I was approved for a Discover Card last year with a BK from 2007 on my report. I was only approved for $1000 but six months later i was given an increase to $1350. Not much but i'm happy with it. Good Luck!

Did you explain the 5 were from a car?
I applaud all of you, I don't even have the nerve to think of apping for a Discover, especially causing an inquiry, less on actually pressing the submit button. I am a little over 2 years post discharge and I don't think that my scores are bad, will have a couple of the inquiries falling off this year (around August) my util is a 0%, just can't really get the hang of when to use the card and when to pay the card, and yadda yadda. I can't even seem to get a WalMart card. I do have 3 actual so called cc's and one BestBuy store card. Maybe in another year or so.......Really just wanted to congrats all of you for have the courage to go for it.
Applied... TD
Recon... TD rep said it was because of my BK. I said i have 36 months post BK with PERFECT history.
Pulled EFX (my lowest since my CU where I have my car and a PIF card does not report)
Stated the utilization, all of my pay history, my score, income, job time, res hisory all looked great... the BK and the two other Discover inquiries plus the Care Credit inq where just too much. Nothing they can do. Asked for them to pull TU, stated they can't
Stated I need to wait 6 months and apply again.
Done with Discover... I have done EVERYTHING they have told me to do and they always say the same thing.... just wait longer.

TD = Turned down
Honestly, Discover is not generallt BK-friendly unless that BK is 7 years old. I had a rep tell me point-blank "We would approve you if you didn't have that on your report".
