Re: I'm Addicted to applying for Cards

Yep, I had the "App Itch" .. now I'm addicted to gardening and watching my scores grow as my accounts age.

I don't know what's wrong with me.... I've applied for 15 cards within the last week Smiley Sad I even apply for cards that I know I'm not gonna be approved for!?

Address whatever the issue is.  Constantly applying is not sustainable.  If you have credit seeking activity that is deemed excessive for your credit profile it will be a red flag to creditors.  Your credit seeking activity can impact your existing accounts.

When you are in shape to apply then sort out your needs/wants and use that to select cards that suit you versus just applying.  Form a strategy and stick to it.  Applying should be an effect, not a cause.

Re: I'm Addicted to applying for Cards

get off this forum, only reason I'm able to garden is because I simply can't get the cards I want.

If I had higher credit score I'd probably have to retire from myfico just so I dont go crazy checking for the latest deals.

I still do even though it doesnt do me any good

Re: I'm Addicted to applying for Cards

well atleast it was done around the same time, so a good chunk of those inquiries will fall off in 2 years.

Re: I'm Addicted to applying for Cards

I feel ya! I've been there. I posted something very similar in August. I just came out of the garden to get a Venture, and am going back in. The best thing to do is seriously stay off the forums. Work on caring for your current cards and getting CLI. Sometimes CLI can be just as fun in 6 months or so. I know the rush from an approval! It's fun, but not worth it. Good luck

There's nothing wrong with being addicted to applying for cards.

I have went a little crazy.  But my scores have improved.  I still cant believe I have 25 inquiries.  That is ridiculous!

6/2013 care credit joint, approved $3k

9/2013 cap1 denied

4/2014 chase denied, disco denied, credit one approved

9/2014 commerce bank 2k visa approved

12/2014 1k cap1 qs approved

4/2015 amazon $850 approved

5/2015 $1200 sams approved, $5k amex ed approved

6/2015 2k delta approved, prg approved

7/2015 2k citi dc approved, chase hyatt denied, ihg 5k approved

9/2015 2.1k BOA amtrak approved jointly

10/2015 SP lenovo 4k approved, CU 3k visa approved

12/2015 2nd commerce approved, 1st commerce closed, limits combined

This tells me that things were going great around may/june.  But once I started the frenzy, my limits were held down.  Luckily I have some CLIs here and there.  BOA denial was a huge indicator. As well as Chase needing  recons.  But honestly with no need for any major loans, my credit was just wasting. I have done fairly well with points and bonuses to add to couponing.  I would not have anybody do this though unless they didnt need anything major too.  I am sure if I was not super OCD with my payments/balances this would not be the case!  Had I waited I am sure my starting limits with BOA/Chase/Citi would be much higher.

You wont get rich from credit cards that is for certain.  But they do make traveling nice.  I try to mix a little Ramsey and a little Orman.
