Earn up to $1,800 in statement credits

Activate this offer by 5/15/2025
Earn $100 in statement credits when you spend $1,000 – $1,999.99 each month or earn $200 in statement credits when you spend $2,000 or more each month on eligible gas station, grocery store, and restaurant purchases. Activation required. Offer ends 12/31/2025.

Totally jealous about this. I have not received any offers yet, and applied in early December. How long would you expect to have to wait to get an offer like this? Was this in email or in the website?

I spend over $1k per month in groceries, but no gas or restaurant spending - maybe I'll spend a few dollars in those categories to see if it helps.

Yeah, too bad the SYW card is so YMMV.  You're jelly of me, I'm jelly of those that still get the $250 (in points) for $1k online spend.  I need that one, especially since the kids will want the $450 SWITCH 2 soon!  lol.  Hang in there.  I started getting great offers before my intro $225 bonus was even completed.  So, you never know.  Look the 1st and the 15th of each month.  My offers are always via e-mail.

I'm not sure if it really helps, but I had read somewhere to try to spend money in each of those categories each month.  I was using it as my groceries and gas card, but I have the Redstone card so I was using that for restaurant.  As I recall, I used SYW for one or two fast food purchases just to get something spent in that category when I hadn't started getting offers yet.

Again, I dunno if that really did anything, but it's worth a shot!  I think my offers started around month 4.  I did get the huge points offer for online spend that people love, but I missed the email until there was only a few days left, so be sure to watch out for the emails around the 1st and 15th of each month, and maybe make them a "favorite" so that they are highlighted in some way so you don't miss them!

Good luck!

I tried Shell Pay at the gas pump the other day and it didn't seem to count. Transaction was 3/28 and it posted by 4/3, maybe earlier. As of 4/10 I don't have my points, which I would have had it counted.

Also I guess there is like a Phillips 66 mobile payment app? Not sure whether that is usable.

If the listed merchant category for the transaction is "Vehicle Services-AUTOMATED GAS DISPENSER" you should be GTG.  If not then it's a gamble.

What about MCC description "VEHICLE SERVICES - SERVICE STATION" on the SYW Mastercard site for the Visa gift card I bought at Speedway recently? It coded as 3% points on the SYW app!

Oops, I think I was being confusing there. What I meant was that it didn't count as online (seemingly).

Let me correct the record on my data point here (bungled my first post here!) - this charge posted 5%, not 3%. However, I went through the gauntlet with overseas fraud department reps for an eternity with such a purchase each time at both Speedway and 7-11, and it was quite embarrassing; they told me they "don't like gift card purchases" but made an exception (it took two more attempts after they cleared and authorized it at 7-11);  but the Visa gift card purchases using the Publix app went through fine (and counted as online spend). I discovered Speedway is now owned by 7-11, and the 7-11 app should allow in store purchases, but they would not let me use it for gift cards, and neither would the 7-11 in their own store. May have to give up on gas-gift card purchases using online apps (the "holy grail"), since the plentiful Shells nearby don't have gift cards to use their apps, but I'll take a gander at one last 7-11 and give it a go, but I don't think they accept thiei own app (more DPs).

Re: I'm just loving this SYW card. 10% CB gas, dining, grocery Q1 '23

While I'm in the neighborhood, I'd like to get everyone's interpretation here of a rejection letter I got recently from the Shop Your Way Mastercard folks - I've tried speaking to real people every way imaginable, but the Shop Your Way customer support line says they don't know, I cannot find a reconsideration line for Citi Retail, and even the secure messaging request on my wife's Shop Your Way Mastercard account just keeps sending me in an endless loop.

I was able to get my wife the coveted Shop Your Way card at the end of the year, and after we cleared the 90-day SUB recently, we immediately got a $750/250K offer via email (met/paid), followed by a $1500/$150 monthly offer for the rest of the year two weeks later (just met for April and hope to get paid in May), and crossing our fingers for an offer tomorrow! We are thrilled with it living up to the hype, and have reoriented our modest monthly joint spending accordingly to fully exploit, and experiment on its potential (dangerous for my obsessive personality).

However, when I applied for my own card (in addition to my AU status on hers), I was disappointed to get a rejection letter last fall. I decided to premeptively try again recently on the last confirmed day of the higher SUB recently offered, and doubly disappointed to be rejected again. The real mystery was in the rejection letter - it only said I was rejected because of "excessive number of open accounts" - period. The condundrum to me is that which do they mean - the total number of credit card accounts in my name (I confess I have probably 27 or so open, but they stretch back years), or just recent new accounts (I also confess I opened a slew of new cards last summer for their unique cash back features that rounded out our spending, and 0% to stretch our cash flow for about 6 months so we didn't have to cash in our budget-designation investments a little early to suffer a loss - the first time I've ever floated a balance), or even something else? My 850 FICO dipped around the end of the year but has come back to around 800, I've got around $300,000 in revolving credit, a 29 year (oldest active card account) clean credit report with no missed payments ever, at most a temporary 8% utilization, and a household annual income to match my CL, so I'm not used to rejections, but I would really love to have this card as a crown jewel.

Can any old hands here give me their opinion as to the best intepretation of this murky reply, and if so what is my best strategy - stay in "time out" until the late fall 2026 when all my HPs clear (all the recent popular card cancellations and nerfs make me want to secure this sooner rather than later), or some other more effective technique? Thanks!

@EasyMark  I did catch that 3% for gas instead of 5% - but I knew what you meant.  Smiley Wink

My guess is they are probably concerned with how many open cards you've obtained recently.

Was there an elevated SUB recently?  I didn't know.
