If I was a studnet, I'll try my hard to get 5% on bookstore category. Text books are expensive.
@xgac12x wrote:So in December I am looking to apply for about 4-5 new cards. Currently have a Capital One Secured (Which after I get these new cards I'm getting rid of) and a Discover It. I am a student, I don't buy groceries, just gas and restaurants and I dont travel..anyways here is the list I am slimmed it down too. I need to get to about 4-5 cards from this list, any I am open to suggestions as well.
1. Chase Freedom
2. Citi Forward for students
3. Citi Dividend for students
4. Bank Of America Student Cash Rewards
5. Suntrust Cash Rewards
6. USAA Visa
7. Sallie Mae World Mastercard
8. AMEX BCE
9. AMEX Green
10. Capital One Quicksilver Rewards
I am looking to get a relationship with American Express, I am starting a business soon so I would like to have a good relationship with them so I can get a nice business card (platinum or centurion
)
Anyways let me know what you guys think I should get!
Thanks.
I would probably recommend those 4, but it really depends on what you're spending on. Amex BCE is nice to have even though you don't buy groceries, simply because of the extended warranty and what not.
Discover IT is also another card that you can consider.
It will also depend on your credit profile. I don't think it may be a good idea to add 4-5 cards all at once if your file is thin.
Amex BCE or better yet Amex BCP
Amex Premier Rewards Gold
USAA Platinum Mastercard
Chase Freedom
I Agree adding 4 at one time will take forever to live down. That will devasate your credit score at first if you can even get them at all. My file is in mid to upper 700 and I still will not apply for the Quicksilver I have been told by them if you do not have 5 years on one card with a certain credit limit and payment history is PERFECT you are wasting your time to apply. That straight from Cap One. I did not have the 5 years on one card. I had the payment history but not the time lines they are looking for to be considered EXCELLENT Credit. Heck I am in upper 700 and can not even get a CL increase. Said last one was less than 6 months ago. Thank God their CL checks are not hard.
What if I just applied for the Chase and the Amex. I think that would be my best bet
What were the verdicts?
