I need a strong game plan for CSR
I’m highly interested in the CSR Card, but have yet to receive any prequals from Chase. I do have prequals from Citi, Cap1, US Bank, and Amex. I’m holding off app’ing anywhere else so i won't reach Chase's 5/24 rule.
My revolving credit profile is still young, and I’m not sure how much it needs to age first?
I’d even temporarily open a chase checking or savings account if that will help?
Do I need to start off with a freedom card first?
All advice is highly appreciated!
My Profile:

No Baddies, PIF every month (2 cards report zero & 1 card reports $5-20)
@Chi-townBrickie it unfortunately looks like you're going to have to play the sit and wait game. You're looking at 3/24 right now. My guess, and I'm sure someone wiser than I will correct me, is that you'll need to hang on for the a few months and then possibly do a Freedom app. Then at 4/24 sit and wait for a few, or more, months until you're pre-app'ed with via Chase online.
If it was me wanting in with Chase I'd probably wait for a pre-app for the Freedom as well. That said there are good reports of having luck with cold app'ing for the Freedom. You've got decent scores but your history is biting you. Whatever you do, don't break 4/24 or you'll be in my boat waiting for 2019 to roll around.
You should be able to request a SP CLI form Cap1 by now and I'd take that just to bolster your total CL and offset the heavy Venture limit.
Reports I've read indicate that Disco needs at least 6-7 months to graduate, but there's a few threads that give better details on that. I'd play the CLI game with them too once you can.
If you do get in with Chase, I would push as much of my monthly spend to that card as I could just to show them how much you love them.
I'm a credit neophyte myself so stand by for sage advice from the guru's ![]()

Ok being 4/24 means you can't apply for anything right now. You asked about freedom, do you have pre-equals for that?
Imo, an inquiry is not that big of a deal, so just cold app! Your scores are great, and assuming you have decent income, I'm guessing you get approved.
It's a great card, and it's the card you want, so it's worth the pull imo.
I read 3/24 as they were denied for the AmEx. Correct me if I'm wrong but Chase counts new accounts, not inquires?

1. Yes open a savings and/or checking account with Chase
2. When you go online, there's an "offers" section. If you have a green checkmark for credit cards there, you'll find out what Chase cards you're prequalified for.
3. You can also check at the branch for prequalifications.
Best not to apply for new cards now, just build an even better record with the cards you have.
I think within 6 months you should be able to get the CSR.

I would suggest obtaining another CHase card to build history and boost your internal score (which is something proprietary to them) before applying for a card that has a 10K starting limit. They love to deny people for lack of relationship, and lack of experience, even if you do have accounts over 6 months old.
Edit: just noticed that your singular 10K card is only a few months old. Definitely a denial without some prior foot in the door. Get a Freedom or Freedom Unlimited to start, use it for everything, then app the CSR in 6 more months, since you’ll still be under 5/24.
No prequals from Chase yet :/
3/24, Amex application was declined.
i believe my income should be decent enough (65k)? Not including my wife's income.
Thanks,
All of what you said sounds like sound advice to me, wait=freedom, then wait=csr.
My history is totally biting me right now. I will kick back and be patient, I definitely won’t break 4/24. I have my eyes on one other card, but I can snag that after I get my grip on the csr.
I’m hoping the Disc graduates sometime this Feb-Mar, I will def try to get a cli out of them afterwards.
I just received a 6 month “credit steps” $200 cli on Cap1 in November, the card limit was $300, lol.
I’ve ran 8k through the venture in the last 7 weeks, I’m hoping at 61 days they will show me a little love with a cli.
When the day comes, I will do as you suggested, and put all of my monthly spend on it until I get where I want to be with them.
