I need a strong game plan for CSR

I need a strong game plan for CSR

I’m highly interested in the CSR Card, but have yet to receive any prequals from Chase. I do have prequals from Citi, Cap1, US Bank, and Amex. I’m holding off app’ing anywhere else so i won't reach Chase's 5/24 rule.

My revolving credit profile is still young, and I’m not sure how much it needs to age first?

I’d even temporarily open a chase checking or savings account if that will help?

Do I need to start off with a freedom card first?

All advice is highly appreciated!

Re: I need a strong game plan for CSR

Ok being 4/24 means you can't apply for anything right now. You asked about freedom, do you have pre-equals for that?

Imo, an inquiry is not that big of a deal, so just cold app! Your scores are great, and assuming you have decent income, I'm guessing you get approved.

It's a great card, and it's the card you want, so it's worth the pull imo.

I read 3/24 as they were denied for the AmEx.  Correct me if I'm wrong but Chase counts new accounts, not inquires?

1. Yes open a savings and/or checking account with Chase

2. When you go online, there's an "offers" section. If you have a green checkmark for credit cards there, you'll find out what Chase cards you're prequalified for.

3. You can also check at the branch for prequalifications.

Best not to apply for new cards now, just build an even better record with the cards you have.

I think within 6 months you should be able to get the CSR.

Keep in mind that it appears as though CSR generally does not show preaaprovals.

Go for it!

Re: I need a strong game plan for CSR

I would suggest obtaining another CHase card to build history and boost your internal score (which is something proprietary to them) before applying for a card that has a 10K starting limit. They love to deny people for lack of relationship, and lack of experience, even if you do have accounts over 6 months old.

Edit: just noticed that your singular 10K card is only a few months old. Definitely a denial without some prior foot in the door. Get a Freedom or Freedom Unlimited to start, use it for everything, then app the CSR in 6 more months, since you’ll still be under 5/24.

Re: I need a strong game plan for CSR

Your best chance is to walk into a branch and ask a personal banker to check on pre quals for you. This bypasses 5/24 and results in high chances for approval if there are any.

Piece of advice... Ask what all you were pre qual for. They like to steer you to what ever is paying them the best bonus for the quarter. Have them tell you everything that is available, and go from there.

I should note that the branch has offers not listed on the website. It's how i got mine while over 5/24.

Re: I need a strong game plan for CSR

Thanks,

All of what you said sounds like sound advice to me, wait=freedom, then wait=csr.

My history is totally biting me right now. I will kick back and be patient, I definitely won’t break 4/24. I have my eyes on one other card, but I can snag that after I get my grip on the csr.

I’m hoping the Disc graduates sometime this Feb-Mar, I will def try to get a cli out of them afterwards.

I just received a 6 month “credit steps” $200 cli on Cap1 in November, the card limit was $300, lol.

I’ve ran 8k through the venture in the last 7 weeks, I’m hoping at 61 days they will show me a little love with a cli.

When the day comes, I will do as you suggested, and put all of my monthly spend on it until I get where I want to be with them.
