So, I opened an account with NFCU and it says "pending". I've read your posting about getting their cc, LadyRover. So you applied immediately after getting your account? Do you believe with my past and present situation that I have any chance of approval? Thank you.

Yes. I applied the same day that I opened the account and was approved the next day. I don't see why you wouldn't get approved. My scores are around the mid 600s which I believe yours are too or maybe a little higher.
There are a lot of success stories on here for NFCU cards including stories from people who had even lower scores and were approved.
Like everyone told me...just go for it.
Thanks, LadyRover. I will just wait until they set my account up and go straight to apply! This is indeed very exciting...
It was exciting for me as well.
Good luck! And let us know your results.
Hi all, it's Victor again, the original poster, just had to change my login id. Here are some small updates...
So far, I'm waiting to get my member id # from NFCU in order to apply for their credit card. Right now my hands are sweating and I can't think of seeing "DENIED" in the computer screen. I really hope they get me approved, but I really doubt it. The guy at the phone said I'll be getting my id # by mail in 10 days but obviously I'll phone in and have them hand it to me over the phone. So I need that in order to log in for the first time and then apply. It's getting uphill in this rollercoaster.

Hi Victor, if you ever have issues with a login, let us know and we'll work to fix it. Once in a blue moon, myFICO will ask me to create a new login. I don't know why it does that, but I found that if I exit out and retry, then it works the second go-around.

You can call to obtain your Access ID #. They gave me mine right over the phone and soon as I got it, I went in and applied for the card.
Hi all,
I called the NFCU because I was waiting for the Member ID # and they tell me I am ineligible for an account at NFCU. As I stated before in this post, DHS/CBP employees are not part of the Department of Defense cabinet as Homeland Security is not part of the DoD.
I feel so depressed and discouraged. ![]()

So sorry Viktor. I am confused because on their membership eligibility wizard, it specifically states that Non DoD US Goverment Civilians qualify for membership too.
Turns out their "wizard" doesn't know any "spells" at all.
Now I need rehab. To give you an example of how I feel, I feel like applying for just about every single credit card out there and begin trashing my score just for the heck of it.
