I have this diamond preferred invitation that I am using as a coaster on my desk right now, which is good until May 15th. It boasts a 0% APR on balance transfers and purchases for a whopping seven months! Impressive! I hold onto it because I am vaguely interested -- though I really don't have any room for another ex hp (9). But, on the other hand, I will be asking for a cli on my usaa platinum card and will be applying for the it a week later if my cli is approved. I may pull the trigger on the diamond preferred in the event that either of the above mentioned events do not go as planned.

They are all for the thank you preferred. Think I like the Diamond Preferred. Not sure if it's a more "elite" card, wonder if they will approve me?
If you look at both, the TYP has all the benefits of the Diamond (conceirge, private pass), except the 0% period is less (12 months vs 18) and the APR is 1% higher. The TYP gives 1% rewards, the diamond has none, and the TYP is a flexible spending card. So the Diamond is certainly not more "elite"!

This is one of my favorite forums, such great members. Sounds like the thank you preferred is a better way for me to go. Maybe I'll apply for it :-)
If you do, you currently have a choice.
a) The plain meh TYP (note I am not trying to bias you in any way!) that has a 15K bonus after a $1000 spend in 3 months, and gives 1 point per $1
b) The special offer TYP, that gives 5x on gas/groceries/drug stores for 12 months. Downside is a much small bonus (6K) but for a much smaller spend ($300 in 3 months)

Ive been getting pre approvals for both the diamond preferred and the thank you preferred...
Me too, they alternate each week.
