So I got a discover-it pre auth in the mail and it's so tempting!
You can see what cards I have in my sig, The first two i'm AU's on. Score is around 650. Buying a house in 4-6 months.
Should I APP for the Discover-it? The cash back categories and the card itself are cool and I would like to get a good credit card from a good company on my own, Capital one, Barclays don't seem to hold the weight of a card like Discover.
I don't want to hurt my chances for the house, even though it's a first time home buyer program from my state and the requirements are just a 640 or higher Fico score and i'm at 650 and climbing every month.

Not sure what you base this on? The Sallie Mae card from Barclays blows my Discover it right out of the water. I love my Discover card but its been collecting dust since I got my Sallie card. Not to mention my Barclay cards have been super consistant and generous with CLI's where as Discover is a bit reserved. I wouldnt rule out a card like the Ring or Sallie Mae from Barclay.
But for your situation I would wait until you secure a mortgage before apping for credit. My buddy recently bought a house and they told him he'd have to close his recently opened card before they would work with him. YMMV
Definitely wait your house is more important!
I will remain in the Garden!

I would recommend waiting until after you close, maybe that evening. You don't want to do anything within 6 months of a planned mortgage. However, the discover is a good one to have.
I definitely agree on waiting until after closing. Obtaining your house is definitley more important!!!
As the overwhelming mutual consensus agrees with, WAIT! (like at a crosswalk LoL) for the closing on your home FIRST! The DISCOVERIT (and others) will be there for the choosing and in a much better light for you. That's actually the norm and yields positive results!
So No Problem after all
