Ive said this before on here but this time I have been sticking to it. Okay so Ive been "officially" gardening since May 1st and im finding it harder and harder to not applying. I finally forced myself in the garden when I checked the mail one day and it was full of denial letters. So i decided to pay down some of my debt (I dont have much) and garden until I can refinance my car. Everyday I get tempted and for some reason today was harder than others.Any advice on how to keep fighting the temptation to not apply even when I know I will get turned down?

That is the best reason to Garden ( You have no choice) also let the accounts that you do have age and the HP's get past the 1yr mark. You need to set a goal and go after it.
I know the temptation to app is really strong; I still have trouble with it. Here is what I did:
I hope this helps

Freeze your credit reports so you protect yourself from yourself
Thank you both for the suggestions. I think freezing my reports are a good idea. I also like the idea of adding the line on my budget worksheet.

+1
Go to the rebuilding section and help others :-) I do that and it helps me stay in the garden plus I know the others just starting and rebuilding appreciate any and all help like I did when I started here.
I can so relate to your frustration. I was having the same itch everyday, but finally grounded myself from applying. I was getting denied left and right and notice that I was hurting myself in the long run. I starting using the pre-approve website to see if I get anything and then I starting the shopping trick. That really help me a lot and from there on I stop applying. I'm going to garden until next year and work on the CC i have in my wallet and build from them.
I think you've already eluded to why you should stop APP'ing: YOUR REFINANCE HOPES. If you want the best rate and the best monthly payment, you'll hold off on the app temptations & garden. The cards will always be there when you have nothing else planned, however refinancing will save you money in the long run and put your mind at ease!
Stay Garden Strong and don't post about any apps until it's your accepted refinance rate!
