@Anonymous wrote:So I am looking to get another card. I currently have the CSP the Freedom and a discover card(don't know the name, its from 08). I never use the discover as i think its a waste of card but keep it open for its history(1st card). The CSP I usually use when eatting out and when I am on vacation(also use it to book my vacations). The freedom use to be the CS and it rarely gets used. I am looking for another card mainly to give to my fiance to use for groceries as I usualy pay cash for everything I purchase.
Are you activating the quarterly Freedom categories? Earlier this year, Q1 was Groceries 5 points, then Q2 Dining Out 5 points, the Q3 just wrapped up Gasoline 5 points. In those quarters, Freedom will contribute many more points to your CSP than your CSP earns at the same time, so Freedom should always be considered for something. Q4 is Amazon, so that's a little less obvious to use, but in 2016, expect a quarter of gas, a quarter of groceries, and a quarter of dining to use.
With CC FICO scores in the 800's, you can get any card you want.
Another card to consider is the Chase Hyatt card. It's got the two free nights sign up bonus, and it earns two points on dining, airline tickets, and rental cars, directly to Hyatt points which are some of the more valuable hotel points available.
Also consider the AMEX Delta Gold card and Citi AAdvantage card. If you fly even twice per year, each of these cards has the first checked bag free, which is usually $25 per leg, $50 on a round trip. For the Citi AAdvantage Platinum, the advertised sign up bonus is 30,000 miles now, but I still get the 50,000 miles offer when I go through the Citi Prequalification page, so 50,000 miles is a nice bonus if you can get it. Equates to two basic round trip domestic tickets, or a starter to something larger.

I just switched it from the CS to the Freedom on Monday. I'm not sure what the Discover is(i think the more) but it does give me the 5% at different times, I use it for my phone bill and thats all; they are getting rid of the paying at sears option and got rid of paying cash at sears already so I am more or less done with them, i just use it to keep it alive.
The salie mae seems to be upromise only so that is no good. I do not always fly the same airlines. The main purchases are going to be gas and groceries I guess so i think i am leanign towards amex BCE/BCP or BoA's red colored card(forgot the name). I am also considering getting the cap1 venture to get my limits even higher, currently sitting at about 38k with the 3 cards i have.
Call Discover and ask them to change the card to the It. It will be quick and painless.
My vote goes for Amex BCE. No AF, good rewards on gas/grocery like you want plus you can get $250 bonus offer. If you end up spending enough to warrant BCP, just do a simple pc. IMO, BCP is tough to beat as a gas/grocery card especially now with sallie mae going bye bye
The Citi Double Cash card could be a good option
@Anonymous wrote:The Citi Double Cash card could be a good option
I think it's overrated.
1. I have to wait a month to get half my reward points.
2. I have to wait 2 months to get the rest of my reward points.
3. I can't redeem them until there are 2500 accumulated.
4. There has been no balance transfer offer since the first month.
5. There has been no credit limit increase in the 9 months I've had the card, and the credit limit was low to begin with.
I'm pretty sure the BCE or the BCP makes the most sense I just have to figure out if I will spend enough to justify the BCP

Not that I'm suggesting to do this, but most people will find the BCP a better option, if only you can buy GCs from supermarkets for those Merchants you frequent often, e.g., Amazon, restaurants you like, Target and Walmart GCs (if available), Macy's, Saks, etc...
Also, you should take a look at Themanwhocan's spreadsheets on which cashback cards are the best for your spending profile.
Good luck!
