Dang! Chase is sumthin' else! If I decide to app for Chase next year, I think I'll go to my branch (my checking acct is Chase), so my banker can look at my big, puppy dog eyes watering up.

Interesting. Did you call teh backdoor number for a recon? I got some pretty frank answers out of them about why I was denied for CLI's.
@p- wrote:Here's what the underwriters at Amex will see when you have to recon:
-More than 1 card with a balance
-Multiple new accounts
-High Utilization
-New lines with high limits
This makes it look like you're new to this level of credit and it's getting away from you.
You want them to see:
-Only 1 card with a balance.
-All accounts over 6 months old, most accounts over 1 year
-Utilization totals less than 5% of overall available
-High limit cards established and seasoned.
I would advise patience. +1

@Agree with -p, @Manny121 patience is everything with Amex and your setting yourself up for fail if you apply now, as AMEX see's the recent inquiries as soon as you app in, and 3 hard inquiries wouldn't be worth it, especially since you know in december you know for sure it will most likely be approved, if your bring that util down! As for cap 1, wait until your new accounts report, that way when you do go through the soft pull route, you can argue with them to try to get them to match your current limits, it would be a flawed argument with one card with a high limit, but since you got two you got room to wiggle and should be able to get them to bring you closer to those limit or somewhere closer to that range.
@CredittotheMax I love AMEX but chase out the back accepted me when AMEX denied me, so I know CSP is hard to get but I honestly believe Chase Freedom is the easiest to get right now, since Chase got friendlier (even though there stingy with their limits) and I believe (for me) it goes Chase Freedom > Amex Charge Card > Amex Revolver (in that order of getting accepted), as I feel they been advertising the mess out of it and want more consumers to get that card as a step in the door with them even further, especially if you have a checkings and savings with them! -LJ
P.S. Yes I know I'm bias with Chase but Chase was there when Amex wasn't even if I have a higher limit with Amex now. Catch my drift
