I want to apply for a CITI double cash credit card, what are the suggestions

Hi All,

I want to apply for a CITI double cash credit card, what is the initial credit limit that CITI is gonna give me and will there be any auto credit limit increase for every 6 months ?

I have a credit history of 2 years with the following credit scores.

T.U : Mar'16 (648) -> Mar'17 (747)

E.F : Mar'16 (655) -> Mar'17 (755)

Exp: Mar'16 (630) -> Mar'17 (761)

Total credit limits: Amex(11k) + Capital one (3k) + Barclays (1.3k) = 15.3k , I'm like obsessed with having higher credit limits, i want to improve my total credit limit to 100k - 150k in the next 2 years, any suggestions are welcome.

-Thank you

Hello Amar89. I received one with a 1k SL. 3 months later requested a SP CLI and went to 2.5k. Good luck 👍🍀

We cannot guess your SL from only your scores.
However, I think you have a good chance of approval.

Your scores look pretty good for an approval, but nobody can guess your starting limit or how future CLIs will go.

I will say that across the board Citi tends to be stingy with the Double Cash card so don't be surprised if you get approved for 3-5k. Just how it goes with this card most of the time.

How did You get such a jump on your scores in 1 year? I'm sitting at a 673 and would love to get into the 700s. I have limited open accounts. CapOne for 3K and a Citi for 1K. Should I be applying for more cards to up my limits?

Prob not getting anything big with the DC at first. Prob $3-5k starting limit but call them and ask for a manual pull for a CLI. Then you'll have a decent limit

If you don't have an open loan, you can try the share secured loan technique, it could give you up to 30 points. See here

You may try to report 1 card at $0 balance and the other only small balance (it could be $10) to get a better score.

I applied for a double cash card in 2015. At the time my oldest card was only 13 months and my score was 701. I was approved for a $3000 limit, so I would think you would get north of that.

This is a great advice.
