I will never understand the credit world in all of its complexity.

Equifax raised my score 11 points last week (reason given by MYFICO): balance increase ($83), then lowered my score this week (reason given by MYFICO): balance decrease ($38).  This is on Macy's which I always have less than %5 utilization.  Then AMEX  would not approve a CLI for my Costco Amex last week, then this week I was pre-appproved, then approved for AMEX Everyday card.   My head is about to explode at higher CLI than my Cstco card.

...apologize, I meant to write ...at higher credit limit than my Costco card.  (Thank you)

The balance increase wouldn't raise your score lol. Something else triggered that score increase but MyFICO combined that with the balance increase alert and made it seem like a point increase due to balance increase.

Ya, the MyFico alerts seem to be fairly innacurate sometimes. My total balance dropped by $3,000 from $4,000/$100k to $1,000/$100k and they said my scores dropped about 25 points each because of it *facepalm*

AMEX Platinum Gold - NPSL | Citi ThankYou Premiere 20k | NASA Platinum Rewards - 20k | Alaska Airlines Visa Signature - 5k x 5 (Not sure why I needed 5.... but still....) | Amex Blue Cash Everyday - 21K | Chase Sapphire Preferred - 15K | Ritz Carlton Card - 10k | Chase Freedom Visa Signature - 5k | BECU Visa - 3k |Barclaycard Rewards - 2k | Chase Amazon Rewards - 1k | Discover IT Student - 500 | Chase Slate - 500 | Walmart Store Card - 700 | BBY CitiBank - 1500 | BBY CitiBank -1000

Eq (MyFico) 767 | TU (FICO) 759 | Ex (FAKO): 749

This!   It's really pretty simple and is even explained in the product section. (http://ficoforums.myfico.com/t5/myFICO-Product-Feedback/FICO-3-Bureau-Credit-Monitoring-Frequently-a... first item)

Basically, your scores go up and down due to all the usual factors, but you (usually) don't see all of this movement.    MyFico alerts you when a trigger event occurs, and there are different rules for each bureau (with EX having larger trigger thresholds).   So your score might change for a number of reasons, but you don't get told until a trigger occurs, which people often think is *the* cause of the change, but it isn't
