IHG Upgrade Question

I am considering upgrading my IHG card to the Premier card.  I've had my card about 2 1/2 years.  If I ask, is there a credit check?  The annual fee would increase to $89 but it's worth it. Has anyone upgraded since the change?

No HP credit check at most a SP but doubtful even that..  Most people havent upgraded even with point offers such as myself as we don't find it worth it personally, but each and everyone is different, but that general consensus is the 49$ legacy card > premier card with higher AF.

Re: IHG Upgrade Question

Personally, I would not upgrade the IHG select card. I just used my free night at a $400 dollar per night hotel for the low annual fee of $49. You're better off just applying for the premier card if you want the higher point earning rate and have both cards for two free nights.

Re: IHG Upgrade Question

Thanks all for your help.  Just wanted to make sure I wasn't missing anything.  The free night is the only reason I have the IHG card.  Thanks!

Re: IHG Upgrade Question

I got an upgrade offer right around the time I was going to buy points with IHG's 100% bonus program.  I accepted the offer and made the purchase, only to then find out the 20% point purchase discount can't be combined with a bonus offer.  Thankfully, the Chase letter with the new terms said I could revert to my old product (the $49 AF card) if the new one didn't meet my needs, which I did immediately.  I did get the 10k bonus points for my first purchase, though.
