I had a few questions regarding Identity Theft/Fraud regarding a Credit Card. Here is what happened: On 08/14/2014 I got an email from my Dad and some friends that they received an email from me from my Yahoo Account that had like all my contacts listed in the email...like one of those you get from someone and 50 of his friends..and ofcourse I never sent an email like that and nor was there a copy of it being sent from my Yahoo in my sent folder...and I never send out group emails to all my contacts anyway..my dad said it had a link in it and said hey guys check this out. Well I immediatlely went and changed all my passwords thru out the day and scanned my computer..I use Kaspersky and it showed no problems..infections or malware and I assumed everything was alright. About a week and a half ago I received a statement from a card(1st Premier)...crappy bankcard..I know, but i have had it for so long and havent used it in awhile anyway but it showed 4-different charges to a CVS Pharmacy in Miami and I live in Louisiana and have never been to Miami. The charges also showed in my account as 08/15/2014 the day after my friends received an email from me going to all my contacts. Well I immeadiatly called 1st Premier and closed that card and filed a report with them and a police report as well. I have the physical card with me and it has never been to Miami with or without me..so how did they get this info to make another card from my email account?? I am not understanding if they gained access to my yahoo account for a short time...is it possible for them to get information out of that and make another card?? I mean I dont even have that card number listed anywhere in my yahoo folders or is it more likely that I used my card somewhere in the past and they had access to that? I am just trying to understand how they could have gained access to that card info and made another card?? I mean to protect yourself it seems like you need to know how they got the info in the first place?? Was the yahoo the likely breech or was it from the target card I have since there breech?? Just curious and bothered now...kind of scary really when you think about it..I mean our whole world is going digital..any ideas would be appreciated.
I didnt think so either as I dont keep any info like that in my yahoo folders and the Banks or Credit card companies never send you anything with that type of info listed in the email either..it was just weird and kind of makes you really worry about the future of the digital age..Thanks for your reply Skype12329.
No problem. Its a scary world out there, theres always going to be that one person who will figure out how to obtain such information and unfortunately there is always a victim. ![]()
