Hi,
I used to have an account with Capital One back in 2018/2019. It was a secured platinum that got charged-off. The account is not being reported on my credit reports at all, but when I go to pre-approve I get "prior account is not consistent with our expectations" If I pay the past due charge-off will I be able to apply and get a capital one card again?

Maybe I'm missing something, but how does a secured card get charged off? I thought they would just use the amount you have on deposit to secure the card in order to satisfy the debt.

Because of things like late fees that aren't covered by the deposit.

Exactly. It is possible to spend more than deposit on card. The card I had with them was $200, I spend like $250 if got charged and also fees. They don't give back $200 and collect, they keep $200 because $200 was charged + $50, someone is getting paid.
Should I pay the card off or not worry about it?
How much do you owe from this secured card?
This came up in another sub- forum. Im wondering if their lax approvals is getting tighter now. If i see it. I'll link it. Your not the only one this week.
@gloverkevin I would pay the card off. There is the possibilty it is on Chex Systems. See link below

Thank you,
my Chex systems report came yesterday I'll check it. Should I call support and pay it. What if they transfer me to collections? I always try to get proof of payment arrangements. I want to pay to get a new capital one card to start building a relationship with them.

I think you should call them up and pay it off.
I don't know if it will put you in their good graces or not, but in the long run it's still a good move in my opinion.

Thank you 🙏
