I think it makes a difference if you are at 100k or 50k total with Synchrony, as 12njoy is saying. I don't wish to go to 100k with Synchrony, but that is my choice.

12njoy, you have gotten some truly amazing cards recently and I think your decision worked out really well for you. You did well.

Thank you for sharing this really helpful information. Smiley Happy

Sorry sorry to hear this.  Had your Stash card hit your credit reports?  Today when reviewing my CR, Stash had already reported to all 3 bureaus, this was within a couple of days after approval.  You are a true Trailblazer, thanks for sharing!  Sorry you had to learn about their cap this way.  It would have been good business practice for Synchrony to send you a letter indicating that you were approaching their maximum exposure limit. It would've allowed you to make the best decision for yourself and I'm sure you would'nt have wasted a TU inquiry.  Wow, really sorry to hear this.

Thanks.  It's okay though.   It did hit my reports.  You can go over 100k with approval of new accounts.  I just closed it to try and stay under the review possibility

I don't think this really constitutes a 100k red line that Synchrony won't cross, just that it happens to be Synchrony's red line for 12njoy. I got a similar letter from Chase a few months ago and many people have more than the 50k exposure I have with Chase.

100k seems to be the magic number in many cases with Synchrony though (and has been for years).

It does constitute proof (in my eyes anyway) that a cli won't yield anything over 100k on manual review which was what I was saying.   You can go over 100k if approved for new card.  I'm just trying to stay under the radar.   You can go over 100k bur not on manual review.

Oh I definitely agree on it in your case. 100k has more or less been somewhat of an urban legend with Synchrony and formerly GECRB. As you said earlier you hit that threshold with them.  hopefully you don't have to worry about a potential FR - I think you've taken all the steps I can think of to do so.

+1 don't want 100k with sync. current at 25k maybe another 25k will do it.
