I called Discover and told them I was just approved for a discover more card and I wanted to know if they could give me a better deal. They originally gave me 6 months balance transfer at 3.9 and apr after 6 months will be 21% or 23%. The man I spoke to was so nice, he said he will see what he can do after I get my card to call him. Has anyone else just been through this with discover ? What do you think they will say ? He said they like to make their customers happy ! Im ready for HAPPY ! What should I say to get approved for a better deal ? He may run when he sees my debt. I hope my card gets here tomorrow.

Good luck with having your terms changed however Discover is known and admit themselves that they are very conservative, usually they will tell you to contact them in six months when they will be able to consider a CLI / APR change request.
I honestly believe with Discover though that your orignal terms when you app will influence how Discover will treat you down the line, they are not known for regular CLI's and will almost exclusively pull a hard inquiry for any request.

That is usually the case, but not always. I got my Discover More in May 2010 with a $2,000 CL, 6 months 0% then 21.99%. In Apr 2011 I called for a CLI, they said they would need a hard pull, I said what the heck go for it, and I got another $500. Then last month I called again, the automated system said we need more info, transferring you to a person (which usually means a HP). I told her I just wanted to raise my CL for util purposes because I ws trying to get my score to 800, and I did not want a HP. She put me on hold, then came back and said she was able to bump me up to $4,000 with just a soft. I mentioned I am active duty military, I don't know if that mattered. I would have liked a 5 digit limit since I have a $14K USAA MC and a $19.3K AmEx BCP but I'll take what I can get.
Then I decided to see if my luck would hold and had her transfer me to someone about the APR. Not that I need it, I PIF. But I mentioned to the new CSR that the APR for new apps maxed at 19.99% so could he at least match that. He gave me the choice between 0% for 6 months then back to 21.99%, or a permanent 17.24%. I chose the latter. This was also without a HP. So it can be done but as usual YMMV. Give it a shot after 6 months, the worst they can say is no.
@LS2982 - After I get my mail I'll let you know who they pulled it from.
They pulled Equifax,my score was 682 when I applied for Discover more. I recently applied for a US bank visa Nov 22nd score was 708, and then applied for citi diamond preferred the next day but I don't know what my score was then. I just applied for the discover more on Dec 10th and Equifax score says 682 now. Seems US bank gave me the best apr out of the three which was 17.99% compared to citi at 23% and Discover at 23%. I will be calling Discover Monday if my card gets here I'll let you guys know if they change my apr or anything, yea right ! Anyway I still have my 11.99 with chase, for now anyway.
