It's different with each lender. Some do, some don't.

Thanks for the feedback guys. I was kind of hesitant about asking for a CLI from Chase. They haven't given an automatic in 8 years. On my Barclay visa, the initial limit was 700 and then a year later they gave me an automatic increase of $700. I wasn't sure if I should try the CLI for Barclay Visa vs Chase Slate Visa
8 years stuck at $300? I think you should call the Chase backdoor number and aim high. I would request $10,000 lol
I would also apply for Discover. I have noticed that people with lower amounts of credit available get bigger starting limits. Seems that way anyway. I would also apply for Amex revolver. Even if you started at $2000, there is a decent chance it would be $6000 in 61 days!
I would not read too much into a fako score or its reasons . Besides, my fako scores are always lower than my fico score. Have you pulled your true fico score from this site?
Chase Slate Visa!
there was a Chase Personal banker here with a very good thread about chase, search for it and read peoples questions and answers he gave.
then call the cahse backdoor number and tell them you need a 5k CLI they will defenatly give it to you

I have not pulled my true fico yet because I just paid off my barclaycard with a lump sum of $1k and I wanted to wait until the new 0 balance was reported to the bureaus on my next statement. I plan on buying my real fico sometime next month.
keep us updated after you call the chase backdoor number for that tiny slate cl...
about the original question:
yes, future lenders absolutely base limits off of your exisitng history/experience with current limits. Higher limits now turn into higher limits later. I have had credit all over the score chart over the past 13 years and this is, no doubt, something that is clearly evident.
A store card might have less impact, and some stores issue low limits regardless of your current major card limits or credit scores. But, if all you have are store cards, then that is what a lender has to look at. Although the actual lmiit has no effect on FICO, other than making utilization easier to manage, it will affect the basis for high limits on future approvals.
+1 to all who suggesting asking for CLIs.
