Increased Sign-Up Offer for Amex Gold

Hi, all! About a month ago, I was approved for the Amex Gold card with a 25,000-point sign-up bonus. I'm seeing now that Amex is offering a 50,000-point SUB. I read somewhere that I could call Amex and request this new SUB. Does anyone have any experience with this?

Amex does not match sign-up offers once you are locked into one.. There are a few stories of success, but 99% of the time it is a no go.

In my experience you have to have a lot of history with Amex and rate very highly by whatever their internal metrics are to get them to match a SUB. I tried to get them to match a SUB for my Blue Business Plus (mine was 10k for $3k spend, I saw one for 20k for $5k spend), and it was a no go. That was within the last month, I opened my first Amex card in 2014, and still have it open, plus a total of 8 other Amex cards. I never asked them to match a bonus before, but to be fair I think I got practically the best bonus for almost every other card I have from them, including 50k on the gold card and 25k on the green card, so overall I'm not sweating it (especially since I had like 3 other SUBs to hit simultaneously anyway)

Your only option is to get friends or family members to sign up for their own card through a referral link you give them. (Note: posting such links isn't allowed around here). 10K MR points per referel, up to 55K  total.

As a data point, I'm a AmEx customer with their BCE and Magnet cards. Have been for nearly a year. Recently got a flyer in the mail offering 50K SUB for the Gold, and 20% tip match for a total of $200. I used the code on the mailer and pulled up the site and got the dreaded "Expand your membership" page, yet if I go to my cards section I'm pre-approved at a 25K SUB. 

Haven't pulled the trigger yet but it looks as if when the sub increases their underwriting may get tighter too.

If you have a corporate Amex, you can enter your card number and see if you have any special offers. I had a special offer for 50k points with $2k spend in 3 months and an additional $100 statement credit along with normal the $120 dining credit and $100 airline credit. I get the additional $100 statement credit for as long as my corporate Amex account is open, which technically is only as along as I stay at the same job.
