Re: Inquiry count when applying

American Express and citi can be inquiry sensitive as well, and their recons process are not easy/flexible at all. If you going on a spree, I would probably do Amex first, then chase, for example.

It really depends on how your CR looks. If you have a short credit history or something that isnt favorable for your case, they will start to nitpick on the finer details such as number of inquiries.

When are you planning to get a mortgage? Don't app for any new credit within 6, preferably 12, months of your mortgage app.

Re: Inquiry count when applying

It depends on when we find "the house."

6-12 months seems oddly restrictive. But I don't write the rules--I just try to follow them.

I guess any new appliances or furniture will run through the AMEX I've already got. ...

Re: Inquiry count when applying

Best advice, IF you are in a position where you need additional credit to meet the purchasing needs that you expect to face post-closing, is to open those cards more than 6 months prior to your mortgage application. Ideally 12 months.

If you are within that 6 to 12 month window, don't app. For ANYthing, unless you absolutely have no choice (i.e. your car explodes and you have to replace it). Even then, do so with an eye towards your ratios.

Re: Inquiry count when applying

This thread was jacked thus the orginal OP is not asking about an mortgage only INQ's Lol

Before you app think...
Have you done your research of the CC?
Does it fit your spending?
Do you have a plan for the bonus w/o going into debt?
Can you afford the AF?
Do you know the cards benefits? Is it worth the HP?
