Re: Interesting Discover datapoint

@arkane

Well they gave me a $300 CLI when I asked for one about two weeks ago. Still not sure how to feel about it. On the one hand a CLI is a CLI, but on the other it's clearly a pity CLI and pretty insulting. Smiley Frustrated

Consider the law of averages here.  If you got a pity one out of the way, your likelihood of receiving a more favorable one increases Smiley Wink

Re: Interesting Discover datapoint

Speaking of CLI's, how soon after a payment posts would you suggest hitting the button? I just received notification that my current payment has posted a little while ago.

I've found that most CLI requests need the CRA unfrozen/ unlocked. I've run into this with Barclays, Disco & BoA - all clis denied for TU being locked, all approved when I unlocked it.

Freezing hasn't blocked me with Amex, Barclays, BoA, Capital One or Citi.

This. Yeah your reports being frozen has nothing to do with SP CLIs. Once you have a card with a lender, they already have access to your credit reports. To add to this, I just received a CLI from AMEX on my 8K Cash Magnet card which resulted in a 20K CL. All three of my credit reports stay frozen.

Now if your CLI requires a HP, then of course they won't be able to process that without your reports being unfrozen; but this is only for HP CLIs.

Even for SP CLIs there are some lenders who require the freeze to be lifted... a notable one is Synchrony/Credit Solutions.

In the past they've been unable to do a SP if there's a freeze on TU.

One thing I've learned is that when it comes to Discover, there is no spoon

The payment posting isn't really a relevant factor here.  I'd suggest waiting until your statement period passes and you see your TU FICO 8 score update on your account.  At that time you know that Discover has done another SP on you, has seen your most recent data (such as your payment) and from their monthly account maintenance a CLI may then be available on your account.  Most people report the most success when pressing the button following the end of a statement period after their score updates.

Discover SP's TU for me generally around the end of the month, so the last pull was on 5/31, but the statement period for the card I'm looking at a CLI on ends around the 25th of the month. However, they don't generally update the score on my dashboard after pulling it for a week to 10 days.
