Interesting (but good) Orchard Bank story

I started out rebuilding last year with an Orchard bank card.  CL of $300 and a $79 AF 15% interest rate, sucks, but we have to pay for our mistakes somehow.  Anyway, I got offered a rewards card from them this year with 2% cash back on all purchases, and a $400 CL with no AF and a 12% interest rate.  Now I already have better cards, but none with rewards and the 12% wasnt horrible either.  Anyway, I got that one, then asked if I could combine accounts (so as to not lose the history since I was not paying the $79 AF), they said I could but only for the history, they would not be able to combine the credit lines.  So I thought that sucked a little, but oh well.  I went ahead with it and I sent in the paperwork that they sent me.  I just checked my account today and the old account is closed, and the newer account has the a credit line of $700.  Wow!  That was a pleasant surprise especially since I asked my CU card to increase my credit line to compensate for what I thought would be lost from Orchard Bank.  Pretty cool, thought I would share.

Glad to hear Orchard made good on your CL ... and now you have a higher CL via your credit union which will give your FICO scores a boost (hopefully).

How long did it take for Orchard to combine your cards?  I sent in my request to combine my Orchard and HSBC and was told up to 30 days.

I called and asked for it, they sent me the paper work (about 4 days to rec), I filled it out, sent it back and about 1.5-2 weeks later it was done (today).  I guess it takes around 30 days if you include mail time.

Congratulation on your success!!! It gives us all inspiration to make the hard phone calls and ask for more. We should not have to pay for our prior bad deeds forever, especially if we have changed our ways.

Well, yes, in some ways we should have to pay for our prior deeds, and we do,  Through higher interest rates and annual fees.  As far as changing our ways, all that does is to make sure that we dont have to continue paying for our bad deeds indefinitely.  If we didnt pay, we wouldnt learn our lessons.

I actually like my 2% CB card, now that I see how fast it adds up.
