Do you not understand that the card also comes with a free monthly credit score?
You're correct of course, but why did you need that to be confirmed by the CSR? I am not sure what the big deal is that the CSR didn't know what he was talking about, as long as he were still able to close the card. I understand that's annoying, but I wouldn't waste my time explaining things to him or making another call.

I called Amex last night to close my Delta Gold since the AF was due. I wanted to move the CL to my BCP. The first Rep that I spoke to was trying to talk me out of the closure, as it would "negatively affect my credit rating". Really? I called him out on it, and ask d him to explain. He said that because the card would have a 0 CL it would affect my score. I mentioned to him that a) He apparently has no clue how credit scoring works, and b) that it wouldn't even have a effect on my utilization, since the CL was being moved, and also, having $215k in available credit and even losing $1k (I had already moved most of the CL a while back) wouldn't matter. He kept insisting, so I hung up. Next CSR apparently seemed to be Us based, and had no issue doing what I wanted, and didn't try to give me any BS song and dance like the first one. Interesting
So even though you only had $1K limit letf on the card, they let you move the whole thing to another card when you closed it?
You imply the first CSR was not American. Was the first call to the Platinum phone number, or Delta Gold?

Delta Gold number. Platinum CS has been closed since Irma, (they are in FtLauderdale)and is being routed to normal CS right now 😤. I like the platinum CS much better
