Re: Introduction

I agree but credit is crazy how it works even when I had no debt, a steady job, etc I would only get small lines which back then was prob all I needed. Thanks for the advice.

Your starting limits to me are affected by how much debt you owe already... they're not going to want to give you huge lines if you already owe a good amount compared to your income. (Now, if your income is huge and you're just carrying these balances just this month, that's another story -- but that doesn't seem the case.)

Keeping in mind that I don't know how much you can put towards your CC's per month, here's what I would do:

1) Pay off the Amazon Store Card.

2) BT the NFCU balance to the Simplicity. Yes, it will be nearly maxed, but that will only be temporary.

3) BT the USAA Mastercard balance to the Freedom. (assuming the 0% promo applies to BT's as well)

4) Focus your largest payments on those CC's with the shortest 0% periods, snowballing.

That's is almost exactly what I was thinking, just needed some other views to ensure I was making the right steps.

Thanks

There is no reason to remove any posts or the whole thread, you are just fine. Not everyone uses the quote feature, the thread flows great To answer your question only a moderator or admin has the ability to remove posts and threads from the forums. Have a great weekend  Smiley Happy

Re: Introduction

First, let me thank you for your service and offer my condolences on the loss of your husband. It's obvious you are dealing with alot. I know you mentioned you "don't want to lv your kid having to deal with all these CC's, bills, etc..... I'm sure you've got some kind of life insurance policy. If not, I'd strongly recommend one.
Your cleared income of $4500.00 a month with a $750.00 mortgage does lv you some room, but not a whole lot. Just depends upon your COLA and a few other factors. As others have offered excellent advice with regards to moving funds around to different cards, I won't dwell there. My only advice, depending upon how all these bills are affecting you, would be to recommend possibly a home equity loan or some other consolidation loan, if you're finding it difficult to deal with so many different lines of credit. You definitely don't want to miss a payment, thereby causing all sorts of changes to your current lines APR's and 0% intro rates. Obviously if you can juggle between 0% APR 's, that's probably the cheapest way to go, however, if you're finding this difficult, I'd try to consolidate to one monthly payment. I'd also look to possibly refi your home. You probably can get a better rate than the 4%+ you're currently paying.
Once again, thank you for your service, especially on this 4th of July holiday. I wish you and your son, the best.

Thank you very much for your encouraging words. I really have been doing an awesome job at paying down my cards for example the 5/3rd is interest free for 12 months and it was 5000k now I owe 1980 or something like that. I know that i should have throw this money toward the NFCU but I can't risk not being able to pay the card by the one year mark, and it's now part of my home so I just didn't want to mess anything up. I am a new home owner and it's just been one year since I purchased the home and I have not enough equity in it yet to get a home loan, and when I called NFCU about refinancing the house with them, not for a cheaper rate but the incompetence of the current mortgage company and they said that my rate was excellent and that what they would offer me would be almost exactly the same but would have to pay closing costs and that all over again, so I left it alone. I never struggle month to month to live, have a roof over my head, and the children are taken care of so I am blessed with that. Honestly, I do not need anymore credit but it's something I was never taught growing up and frankly just got it into a state where I could purchase my home by myself. I think I am just trying to be smart with what I have or should do in regards to credit cards, like I know this sounds dumb but it's like a competition for myself although participating late in life, I have ruined and fix my credit by myself alone and worked hard and suffered many years due to poor credit and never want to be that way again.  I do have a insurance policy but it's only 10,000 since I am no longer active duty but it's something and it's free from the VA.

Sorry to go on and on but I am just trying to explain why I have what I have, on a side note I blame this forum for my app spree the other night when people were discussing excellent credit cards to get for bt's so I said why not and tried three different ones although I will say that I didn't need the Chase Amazon.

Anyways I am going to bt the NFCU to the Citi and pay and close the amazon store card since I have the visa now, bt the usaa to the chase freedom and go from there. I am not really worried about scores although I care I do not need the score anytime soon as I have all that I need i.e car, home I just wanted to talk to others who have different ideas or ways to utilize the new cards or possibly one I should of tried instead.

Thanks for listening to me carry on it's hard to describe what I am trying to do or whats my final a goal when I have already obtained the goals most people have of owing a home and having a car. Only obvious thing left is to save once all debt is paid in full thus finally have an emergency fund I should have already established Smiley Sad

Re: Introduction

You're on the right track. Just keep to your goals and learn to kind of think of your credit cards as debit cards. It may help you to not over extend yourself. You're not alone in that many of us, myself included, have hurt our credit significantly in the past by making poor choices. All you can do after the fact is learn from your mistakes, like everything else in life. You seem to have a good grasp of what you need to continue doing to move forward with your credit goals. Don't app to just app, or get sucked into it by reading all the approvals and applications on here. It's very easy to get out of control, and in the end, you'll most likely regret the choices you made and all the additional cards, INQ's, and new accounts you opened. As you've read plenty of times on here: "the credit game is a marathon not a sprint, quality over quantity". Best of luck and help pay if forward with what you've learned. There's plenty of people who can benefit from your experience.
