That is correct. It is very rare for Chase to allow cardholders to move the final $500 (or sometimes $1000) of a credit line when closing a card.
I called this past Monday to PC from United Mileage Plus to United Club Infinite
i then moved $3300 from my Amazon to the Club card.
so it is definitely still available
they do have reduced hours. I had to call before 3pm MST. I think they are 9-5 EST for now.

This is basically the crux of the issue.
If you had a large CL on that card, you could probably move it provided you do not go under thet base minimum for each particular card. You are getting denied because that card requires a minimum.
Well, that's super frustrating. The only reason I was hanging on to the Slate was for the free Experian credit score. I guess I might as well keep it and ignore it.

You can still get a free monthly EX FICO 8 score both from Experian and from creditscorecard.com

@Anonymous @icednightpaper the lack of consistency with these responses from CCCs is frustrating! I did have good experience with Chase within the last week though. I called and talked to a rep. She moved 4800 from Slate onto a Freedom Preferred with 3500, new CL 8300 on Freedom and closed the Slate. Whatever the date on my Freedom is in my signature, the Slate was a year younger.
A few weeks ago, I was to reallocate from my Chase AARP to my Disney Visa through SM.
@K-in-Boston wrote:Certainly worth trying a call, then. I don't want to derail this into a Decline of Sapphire Customer Service discussion, but I do find it quite strange that you would get a notification that they are closed and CS is not available 24 hours. When I first got my CSP in 2017, dialing the number on the back of the card would result in one ring and then "Thank you for calling Chase, am I speaking with Mr. _____?" By the time I changed to CSR in 2018, it switched to a phone tree and then hold times. I called a few months back at about 2 AM Eastern, getting out of bed after I realized that I had just made a points transfer to my Marriott account but never changed my Marriott account number in the UR portal after the SPG/Marriott merger. Fortunately the points still made it there, as any activity to the old account number automatically moves to the newer one. But even at that late hour, I was still able to contact them.
Com'mon "K" ... it is about $99 AF versus $550 AF ... want WOW cough up some change
Forgot about this thread, but I have an update:
I was unable to do over SM, I had to call fpr my own cards. It went fine. For my HH member: turns out Chase had their SSN recorded incorrectly for their CFU compared to the CSP, so frontline reps did not see them as primary. We had to escalate to another department (or something like that) to get someone who dug deeper for us. The new rep fixed it even though that CFU is 11 years old, and then they were able to reallocate as they wished. This was on the Sapphire line too so a bit of a headache but ultimately the desired result was achieved.

The "wow" disappeared after I upgraded to CSR.
