Re: Is Citi losing its competitive edge among all other good credit cards?

For me personally Citi has lost its edge.  I have the Diamond card and I don't have a use for it and none of their other products are appealing to me.  My current CL is $3700 and they keep offering to give me an increase, but I honestly don't need more credit that I won't use and since I've got enough to juggle as it is, I'm planning on closing the TL in July.  I might reconsider if there was something new and exciting to PC it to, but I don't think I'm going to stick it out much longer to find out.

Citi completely has lost their edge.  They used to be way out front.  They were leaders in banking technology 20 years ago.  Now....ehhh!

Current Score: EX 712 4/28/15, TU 713 4/14/14 lender pull, EQ 723 9/16/15, 740 EQ bankcard 8 6/1/15 lender pull

Ok I should add. 1.6ccp redemption on AA flights is possible only if you have the prestige card. If you have the premier, its 1.3ccp (I think?). All other airlines redeem at 1.3ccp, which is nice because you are not stuck with just AA. Even for UA or Virgin flight redemptions, it's essentially 3.9% in rewards not including relationship bonus.

Currently the points cannot be transferred to AA. There are rumors (and hopes) about being able to transfer to AA, but nothing is announced as of yet.

1.25 on premier (since the Great Nerfing!) used to be 1.33

Re: Is Citi losing its competitive edge among all other good credit cards?

I am glad to see all these Citi hate threads.

Even the EO o'er their sucks donkey **** haha I hate Chitibank.

I HAVE NEVER EVER EVER had a positive experience there. I did max out a 5k line for 18 months for the 0%  and PAID it off before the 0% before it ended. Only paid like a $100 fee- that didn't even cover the inflation during that period haha

They are not consumer friendly and HP everyone's credit like it's going out of style.

haha screw them... TAKE THAT CHITI.

Such strong sentiment from someone who's applied multiple times with Citi. Smiley Wink

Re: Is Citi losing its competitive edge among all other good credit cards?

I use the My Citi Home Depot card a lot.  I get 5% off at the register 6 months 0% interest on purchases.  I also have a new home so I can see how that wouldn't be appealing to many.  I got the Diamond card to do a BT that I wound up not doing and the Simplicity to finance some dental work that I wound up financing another way so I rarely use those 2 cards.  I plan to PC the Diamond to Dividend once the intro APR is up.

All that being said...  Citi has been good to me.  They have given me decent limits and been responsive on the phone.  I have no plans to ditch them any time soon.

Just to clarify if anyone is interested in the Home Depot card. The 5% is matching Lowe's 5% and your supposed to ask the Cashier to apply to your purchase, its not auto like Lowe's. The 6 months no interest is for purchases over 299. Smiley Happy

as far as their other cards, I agree that Citi is losing it's competitive edge.

Their co-branded cards are decent (AA, Citi Reserve)

+1  my only complaint with the Citi AA is the FTF, (Chase and Barclays have no FTF on their airline cards and are in the lead for me)
