I did BTs on 2 Synch cards last month. Synch records they received the payment on March 1st for card#1 but didn't update it on my account until the day after min payment was due. Now I have a credit and they haven't updated my available credit. Card #2 BT was paid out same day as card #1 (February). Due date is in 2 days and they have not updated the account to show payment received. Anyone else experience this?
This seems to be a typical situation with balance transfers in general, not just with Synchrony. To avoid it, my recommendations would be:
1. Do all balance transfers right after a statement cuts, not in the days leading up to a new statement cutting. This allows time for everything to be processed by both banks.
2. Transfer 90-95% of the balance (rather than the full 100%), leaving a small balance to be paid off with a regular payment.
Card #2 was done after the statement cut. Card #1 shows the payment was accessed but they won't update available credit. Maybe it has to do with method of payment (i.e electronic payment vs. check payment)? I did a BT a few months back and payment was issued electronically. This time its by check but also a different bank. Just a theory I guess
Cap 1 to NFCU - electronic (payoff was 3 days)
Sync to NFCU - check (payoff still hasn't shown 18 days later)
that has also been my experience with Synchrony when transferring money electronically from my bank to synchrony. The money stalled for 3 days until my statement cut and then it was released onto my account. It was a Tuesday when it was sent electronically. By that time, it had already been reported to the credit bureaus and i had to wait a full 30 days before i could have it changed on the credit bureau where it matters the most.
