If you know what bumping is than you would know that credit monitoring services are worthwhile.
I use CMS's to check when accounts update on my reports. I find them very useful.
I absolutely ignore all the FAKO scores. I don't track them, or use them to watch trends - as FAKO trending is not in any way indicative of FICO trending.
I pull my FICO scores from here on occasion. When actively rebuilding, I use ScoreWatch from this site because EQ is the FICO score most useful to me.
CMS's are great for seeing updated credit reports. But, they're useless for having any grasp whatsoever on what a FICO score may or may not be at any given time or even what trend the FICO score may be taking. And CMS's are absolutely useless when it comes to their FAKO score advice - I stay far far away from the advice/commentary and look at it as the sirens luring you to your demise. Following the FAKO advice that comes with FAKO scores can, and does, damage FICO scores.
But the ability to see what's updating on my reports is a great comfort to me and I have used CMS's for some time to allow me to do that. I like 'em.
I love it when these threads get scrappy...LOL. With that being said, I don't use the Discover Score Tracker, I track everything via Fico which I think is your best bet if you're going to sign up for credit monitering services.
I just signed up for the Score Tracker thingy on this site even though it's an Equifax score and not an Experian score. The layout really is nice. Thanks for all the information guys.
It's interesting how Discover make an orange button that pop up and says "Get your score" as if its free. My "Get your score" tab has been replaced with "Transfer now" button recently.

Mine too... 0% APR on balance transfers, 0% on purchases so on & so forth... Would be nice, if I actually had a balance to transfer....
Yep - mine too.....

I really like the USAA CMS, cause you can pull all 3 reports daily. For how much you pay, it seems like the best deal. I know it has fako scores, but I don't really care about that part, just watching my reports.
I agree... the only thing I wish they also provided were a listing of all soft pulls by report. I would even pay a little more for that info...

To some people it's not a "waste".
Which category of "friendly, supportive, and respectful" does this unsolicited negative comment fall into? Every member here in the forums is taking part in an environment CENTERED around improving credit, monitoring current reports, attempting to make positive gains in the credit world. To a LOT of people, that means credit monitoring is helpful. Making positive and helpful comments about advantages or disadvantages of certain services is certainly in line with the spirit of this community, but the holier-than-thou attitude regarding what other people do with their money or what their goals and methods are is getting old, and I see it in almost every thread from certain members.
It makes me feel unwelcome to try to contribute to the community and I'd appreciate it being kept in check.
Thanks.
In reference to the OP, because Discover offers a Plus score, it does not correlate directly to your FICO scores, which most feel are the most useful scores to monitor and improve. Any monitoring service that allows you to pull reports at your leisure and see trend data is useful, but for an $8 monthly fee, there are other services that may be more beneficial (i.e. USAA Credit Monitoring Premium allows you to see three FAKOs, and pull a new report from all three bureaus every day. If you are just looking for trends or foor constant monitoring, this is a good bet. if you are aiming for a certain loan and need to get your fico to a certain score, you may need to belly up to the bar and pay for true FICO scores [though you can find discount codes if you search around!]).
Good luck!
Why are you so pushy?? I mean really THAT is getting quite old. People have their own opinions and if you dont like them dont respond.
