Is having a AMEX saving account a positive for get a CC from amex?

Unlikely. Just like many people with Chase accounts don't have any better luck with their cards than they might otherwise.
$5000 is pocket change for Amex. Put a million in there and see if you get any offers
On a serious note though, I suppose it's possible it could help in recon or perhaps as a point or two on the internal system based on how long you've had the account.

I have heard of someone with an Amex private banking relationship being offered a centurion on that basis. Either on this forum or one of the others.
So probably not, but it becomes a 'resource known to them'.

i thought the same thing. i put some $ in there, but needed it, took it out. have maybe $10 in it now and my hi balance propably was 2k. if they took that account into consideration im sure i would have been denied. propably 2 days after each deposit was a withdrawl.

i was approved for 3 AMEX cards in the past 45days.

Several of us opened accounts with Amex Savings and it does not have any influence on their charge cards. Discover also offers a savings account again that also does not have any influence on the approval of the Discover Card.
