Re: Is it just me?

Sweetie, the problem is that you closed all your cards, which means you have no credit extended!  It is a good idea of your neighbour to suggest a secured card. You have no trade lines open. Lendors see that you've closed quite a few cards and would rather extend credit to someone who has open accounts and would be a long-time customer. Just put a thousand down on a secured card and work your way up Smiley Happy

Re: Is it just me?

I dunno whats goin on with my account. I couldn't log in for a while. But I'm in now :-). Yeah, BOA offered me a secured card so I'm going to play with that for a while I guess.

I was going to use my credit union but, at this point that would be a 4th hard pull within a month. And I can't risk hurting my score even more. What I'm trying to do is establish some type of credit so in the fututre, I can apply for business card for my ew company. Then I can make some serious investment moves down the road. I actually dont have an intention to get a card just to have it but, for the things I want to do with my company, would be much easier using credit. Funny how that is though - credit has more influence/power than cash these days.

Re: Is it just me?

Okay I know this is weeks late but I figured I'd post an update on this. I went ahead and subscribed to score watch and this other one on here which gave me my true FICO scores. Well to my surprise my EQ FICO score were actually higher than I expected. My EQ Fako as everyone calls it here was a 782. And my TU fako was a 749.

Now according to this website, which I assume is the official authentic score that lenders look at. My EQ here is 790 and my TU is 748. Now here's another thing. I looked at my credit report again on here and its showing that I have a BOA credit card that was opened with a CL of 2,000. This is crazy because they told me I was DECLINED...smh. So, I'm assuming a card is in the mail? Has this ever happened to anyone? Again, sorry for the late post.

Re: Is it just me?

You should not get a secured card...your stats should warrant a normal account. I would ask for a reconsideration and lay out your case. You are being denied by a prop algorithm - perhaps one that is not very sophisticated.

Re: Is it just me?

I agree with those credit scores you should be able to get a good card. You should talk to someone instead of doing the computer applications.

Re: Is it just me?

Okay this is weird but I won't complain. Yesterday I got a BOA Cash rewards CC in the mail with a 2k credit limit. Yeah..exactly, decline me and then send me a card anyway....

Anyway, I'm glad. I wish the CL was higher than 2k but hey, I  won't complain. Its NOT a sig card btw lol.

Re: Is it just me?

OP: Congrats on your BofA card. If I was you, I will add a store card like GEMB to your collection about 3 months from now. So in a year you will have 2 revolving accounts reporting and all inquiries should be old enough.

Re: Is it just me?

Thanks everyone. I was thinking that too. But I dont want too many cards open. My initial goal was to have 1 personal cc and 1 business cc and thats it. So I was thinking to utilize this card for a year and then apply for a biz cc.
