Is over the limit the same as high balance over credit line?

I have 2 credit cards from the same bank. One large CL, and one small CL. Can I share the higher credit line with the lower card with out hurting my score?

(High Balance = CR history)

Example.
Card A has High Balance of $9,500 and a CL of $10,000.
Card B has High Balance of $975 and a CL of $1,000.

What would happen if I made this change.
Card A has High Balance of $9,500 and a CL of $5,500.
Card B has High Balance of $975 and a CL of $$5,500.

See how card A would have a "High Balance" of $9,500 and a $5,500 CL now? Does this indicate over the limit? Or is over the limit a code the lender adds in as a negative remark?

Difficult question. Thanks.

I don't even think they would allow reallocating your line like that. If they did though (b/c they are Fee-hungry leeches), they would smack you with a over the limit fee and would probably report it too!

You can only do it with unused credit. In this case both cards have $0 balance. High Limit is the recorded highest statement amount over years recorded on CR. Most banks will allow you to move credit lines if you have more than 1 card. You can do it as often as you want. Just worried about the impact of the recorded High Limit.

Bump. Does having a higher "High Limit" than your "Credit Limit" hurt your score. Wondering if that is considered "over the limit"? Or is over the limit a negative code placed by the lender?

Re: Is over the limit the same as high balance over credit line?

I see your question now. I thought you were talking about "used" credit. Well, I have an account that reports a high credit of 12K. The CL at the time was 18K. About a year ago, I transferred 1/2 the CL to another card when I opened it. So, now my account shows a high limit of 15K but a CL of 6K. My score is still high so I guess that is not a factor.
