Going in branch on Monday to apply to get the 100k UR bonus, the card works great for me since I spend lots on food and travel but this might have been discussed though I haven't seen it and my math might be off but here's my question...
Since the CSR gives you 1.5 points per point or 50% more when using UR to book travel doesn't it then in essence make it really a 4.5x $1 spent on dining and travel (if redeemed for travel via UR)? And wouldn't that in essence make the freedom 5% categories really 7.5% and the FU a 2.25% on all spend! If yes, this is an amazing perk to go along with all the other great perks, am I right?
Yes, your math is correct. And yes, this is one of the main reasons that CSR is the #1 travel card around by a wide margin.
A.k.a. the trifecta: CSR, FU and Freedom.
DW just got her CSR. They had to do some extra verification. They said that the card is in high demand, it may take 1 or 2 weeks to get the card.

You are right, and that synergy is part of the reason why it has been such a successful customer grabber for chase and likely a huge headache for some other players in the same field.
Of course, wherever there's light there is also shadow. I think this situation could cause:
1. chase becoming complacent (or, having accomplished busniess goals in terms of customer aqusition) and nerf the card
2. inflation (or, devaluation) within the UR world which may or may not propagate to the TYP and MR worlds.

Yep, and remember. Those are the MINIMUM values. You can actually get even more for your money if you have the time and patience to maximize the value with tranfer partners. When you add those redemption values with the perks and bonus it really is a great deal. Enjoy it for as long as it lasts.

Yes, you do hit a pretty good rewards rate with the CSR, Freedin and CFU combo. The pitfall is putting all your eggs in one basket (Chase's), which you have to do to maximize UR points. If Chase decides you woke up wrong one day, you could be screwed.
